Just mulling over wether or not to put the extended 2 year warranty on my Boxster.

I'm aware that the pre DFI engined cars had a habit of sometimes lunching their engines with no notice, but I believe the DFI engined cars are proving to be pretty trouble free thus far, so I'm not too concerned on the engine front.

I'm more concerned about the complexities of the PDK gearbox going tits up, are these proving bullet proof thus far? As I can soon see the cost of a two year warranty being swallowed up by the first glitch should it happen?......

Do you want worry free motoring or are you a gambler?

Forgot to say its not in daily use, more of a high days & holidays car. Covering no more than 3000 miles per year.

Bit of a no brainer for me, I always run with the warranty no matter what. See it as part of running a performance car.
I always get a great laugh at people who decide not to incur this expense then loudly complain when Porsche or the like don't come to the table when a low mileage car goes wrong. Why would the rest of us pay out this cost if we thought a manufacturer would give away so much good will, have a good search on this forum and others and you will hear the complainers who have opted out and get caught out.

I totally agree if I was using the car as a daily driver doing anything like average mileage I would snap their hands off for the warranty.

However the likely hood is that it will do such little mileage during the next couple of years (3000 to 4000 or so over two years) that I will end up a little cheesed off having spent the money on it.

And as the late Jim Bowen would of said "That's the gamble!"

I have never paid for a warranty and never will.

After many years of ownership I would have paid for any failure many times over.

To me it's no more than an insurance policy, at the end of the day they are not selling it without profit.

Some call it a worrying gamble, I say it's a calculated risk that I am happy with.
