Has anyone driven a base 991 yet? I believe there have been some delivered, but have yet to see anyone post driving impressions.

I do not think so no, we are waiting with baited breath the first review of a 3.4L car with a stripped out spec.

They have been pictured but I question if anyone outside of Porsche has yet driven one, or has driven one but can talk or write about it.

I tried to track one down and gave up, I tried Byfleet, Hatfield and one other OPC which I forget, all OPCs seem to have ordered in a Carerra S mostly in PDK, sunroof form. The idea of a stripped out base manual Carrera appeals, especially as the base Carerra is no slouch (0-60 in under 4.8!), but also if I am frank, because it would be about 10-15k less than an S. Will probably have to wait a while to try one out though.

Saw a 991 3.4 PDK at Tonbridge today in blue with beige leather but it was a sold one waiting to be picked up. No one at Tonbridge has driven one yet so can't report back. Must have to rev it more than a Boxster to get the extra BHP from the same engine?

That's what makes me a little perplexed.

Obviously the Porsche marketing machine has been pushing one type of 991 only - the 991s with PDK. I have read most of the UK and US reviews and there was probably only 1 or 2 reviews that didn't feature this configuration.

This is probably because they either want to make as much money from the highly optioned cars before anyone realises that there's move value in the C2 and/or manual versions, or the C2 and manual versions are less than stellar.

I think it is the former, but am eager to hear more on these.

Yes, I drove the one at Mayfair OPC. Very impressive and good value. It was a well spec'd car but lacked the extra grunt of the S. I drove them back to back and the extra 10k is worth spending if you have it. You also get some extras as standard in the s version, such as the vectoring system so the difference is actually more like 7k. Fabulous cars though, both of them!

Congratulations, I think you are the first person to have test driven the 991 C2 and talk about it on an English language forum!

Was the car you drove a manual or did it have PDK?

How did the 19" wheels look(or did it have upgrades to 20" wheels?)

wow, I don't think I realised! The car was a pdk with the sports steering wheel (flappy paddles) and 20inch sports classic wheels, lovely.

I wrote a review here actually...

..as was looking to get the GTS at the time and wanted to compare. I start off looking at the C2s but end up test driving the C2.

My diligent search for 991 C2 reviews obviously isn't as good as I had thought. In any case, thanks for that.

Evo put a video review of the 991 C2 up briefly today, but then marked it as private. Not sure why, but I got to see it once before that happened. Generally favorable. Hopefully they'll unblock it soon.
