Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
How badly is the car damaged? If its not too bad, you might consider repairing it for track/fast road use?
With the insurance pay out you could buy a leggy 968 or another 944?

I wrote my 968 sport off a few years ago. Fairly minimal damage and sold it for peanuts as the pay out was fairly generous. I had my heart set on a 911. However, i wish i had had the car repaired and kept it....

HTH.

You could start by changing your user namebiggrin Sorry not really funny but could not resist, sorry for the loss but see what the repair cost is first.

I had a 944 turbo se (250bhp) prior to the 968.
The 968 was a very different car. More of a GT cruiser rather than a speed machine like the turbo. Nice car, but i am a speed freak and preferred the way the turbo drove. I eventually bought a 944 turbo again.....

If you get chance to buy the salvage let me know what you want for it. It might be repairable and i would love another 951..

Did you have an agreed value? Book prices are really scary at the moment. When you look at the price of spares the car is worth a lot more in bits...frown

Shame to hear of our accident, shame that another 944T buys the farm

I am thinking about chopping my old girl of a 944T in for a 968, but even at 226,500 miles she still gos so well and is such a relaxed cruiser I am not sure if it will be an 'upgrade'

I did 800 miles last week and travelling 100 mile shome from Slough at 10:30 at night, I just sat in 5th and surfed the torque wave all the way...

ditto.
Although I found my 968 more akin to the previous turbo than I'd expected - the power surge at 4k rpm when the variocam starts to influence matters was a little like a turbo lag/boost, though not as obvious, nor as exciting.
Both are now old cars and you'll be buying on condition in a small market. OK so your 944T pool may be a little more limited but if you really enjoyed it I would look to replace like with like first

I don't think turbo's are strong money, the sheds are heading for the breakers where they belong and good cars are making realistic prices, I doubt they'll ever be big money but prices seem to have bottomed out now.

Many 944 turbo's in the PH classified's never seem to sell. Some sellers may need to take a reality check on their expectations....

No doubt, dont remember how many I looked at probably between 15 and 20, 3 of those were worth considering, they were all £6k+ and that was 4 years ago. There's cars I wouldn't touch at £1500 and a very select few that are worth £10k+.
