So ive bitten the bullet and bought a 997 c2s. The dealer had offerred autoglym for £200. The car is about 15 months old. Is it worth the cost if the treatment of is it a complete waste of money?

Much better to put your money towards a proper detail.

IMHO a great profit maker for the dealer...the kit costs about £25 & truly how do you know they have applied it?!

And the car is 15months old, for sure will need paint correction/swirl removal. A good detailer can do that for you, and then apply a long lasting sealant - far better than the Autoglym stuff. The AG is OK, but not the best.

Another vote for no to the £200 Autoglym

Either buy yourself the kit on ebay and DIY (its easy and you will wonder where the £200 tag came from) or put the money towards a full on detail by a decent detailer

It's not some kind of special magic - it's CAR POLISH!!!

Anyone can do it, you don't need special skills, you don't even need to be very clever. It does help if you are not bone idle and have the ability to hold a piece of cloth in your "writing" hand and make circular movements. wavey

Leave him alone you bully, he was only asking. But since he is, swerve it and invest in a proper detail, or do it yourself and save £150.

And another +1! A proper rip off - unless you can use it as a haggling point and get him to do it for free .... yes

This is true, but to do it properly takes time. It took me 6 hours to clean, cleanse, detail, and wax my car, so depends how much time you have on your hands! I found it quite therapeutic and the smell of the Autoglym detailing liquid is actually quite nice!

Total and unashamed scam for idiots. It's just a bit of sealant and takes 15mn to apply / buff off and pointless unless you correct the paint first.

I would rather haggle for a free coffee than have this rubbish again.

Just a pointer, I got hold of an idiots guide on how best to wash, polish and wax a car by a detailer from another forum. Most of it pretty obvious; however one thing he was adamant about when doing any of the 3 afore mentioned exercises was to ensure straight, forward and back motions were used and never circular so as to prevent swirling. Ive tried it on the wifes Black SAAB which shows every single mark and must admit using straight motions has made a vast improvement, my 993 is lighter so isnt affected as badly but it has also kept them at bay on that also. Just a point of interest!!
