Dear All

Looking at either a Boxster or Cayman for reliable, fun daily driver.
Purchase price aside, are the reliability and running costs fairly close, what are the main differentials in keeping these cars running well ?
Recommendations on after market exhausts for both would also be great.
Many thanks.

Had a Boxster S (Gen 1 987) and now a Gen 1 Cayman S and I don't think there's anything at all in it in terms of running cost - I would imagine insurance would be the same and the running gear is identical so so is servicing. Only difference would be tyre costs dependent upon your choice of wheel - all wheels are available between both cars.

So really it's whether you want a cabrio or the slightly improved storage of the Cayman (and slightly improved drive - I prefer the Cayman, but I can see the appeal of getting the roof down after a day like I'm having at work).

In terms of exhaust - search 'Karnewal' on here - (or Carnewal? Something like that) - some dude in Belgium that people RAVE about. That or get the optional Sports Exhaust - a rare, but excellent, option.

Good luck!

That must be a pretty sobering thought for people picking up early 2.5 Boxsters for £5k...
