I don't know what it is but I'm loving early narrow bodied 996s!! Having started off my Porsche experience when I was about 24 with a mint C4S I remember I wouldn't even consider a narrow 6. Since then I've had other cars and I'm now back in a 996 in the shape of a TT.

There has been some threads lately with new owners of early 996s and they all look so cool!! I'm completely converted. The one Keith has just bought on another thread looks stunning and in great nick!

Am I getting old? (28)
Is it the price that's making them look better?
Has it got something to with the new 991?

I dunno but I like.... Think these may see a value hike soon?

Perhaps I'm just in Porsche mode after pampering mine today. Post winter detail:

Bonnet Reflection - Note they aren;t scratches they are cables from the house

I have also of late started to think the early NB 996 is starting to become more a classic shape, and I also think well kept low mileage in not duff colours interior/exterior will start to rise a little in price.

A very underated car, and though not hand built like the earlier ones, still comes from an era when Porsche was solely a sports car company and still apreciated its customers.

Oh, and I'm an aircooled 911 owner. tongue out

Dark blue cars should always have amber indicators.

Have had a 996 and now have a C4S 997 and to be honest I do not get the same buzz from the 997 that I got with the 996 (Drive and Looks) hence I am now considering an Aston Vantage.
When I see a 996 on the road I still think they are a thing of beauty, nice simple lines and a lot more involving to drive. Would consider another one but would feel I am taking a step backwards. Maybe in the future.

Errrmmm? I guess at 17:48hrs you may have been on the sauce for a while? The shape of the non 'S' 996 along with those awful headlights will (in my humble opinion) ensure that they'll never be worth decent money. The volume of them available only adds to the depreciation woes, even the 996 Turbo's struggle to make reasonable money, the GT3 get's away with it purely because it's a GT3.

I remember when I went to Earls Court the year the 996 was released at the motor show and my disappointment was immense, I had a 911 2.4 T at the time (now in to a 3.2 Carerra Coupé Sport), the drastic change in the 911's evolution from the 993 was hideous, though to be fair the 993 was a damned hard act to follow or improve on.......

"Back to the future" what a great idea for a film title? I looked at buying back my old pre-impact bumper 'T' when I was looking for a 3.2, felt the same about the backward step but also didn't because of the cost of the pre- impact ones.

I think that a lot of the design is lost in photos. Most of the curves are so subtle that they are hard to capture. Got post Winter clean tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get some pics up of what I mean.
