Has anybody had this problem on a 997

Got in the car yesterday drove down the road switched on the climate control, got a very strong smell of coolant, windscreen misted up and would not clear, and finally got some coolant dropping on to my left foot on the footrest.
Heater Matrix appears to have sprung a leak, OPC said that they had not heard of this happening very often.
Is this true?
My car is a 2007 C4S Cabriolet.
