Noise in my 2004 Cayenne S and cant trace it. HELP

For the past few weeks there has been an intermittent groaning noise from the front ( possibly dash ) area of my 2004 Cayenne S Manual which has 85,000 miles, half of that mileage with me since 2007. OPC Serviced and extended warranty but the OPC is a 320 mile round trip so I m trying to diagnose the noise myself to save a wasted trip.
It's a groan/ possibly whine. Comes after 30 mins driving, and is quite loud . It can remain for the rest of the journey and then often goes away by itself. I had winter tyres on but it remained when I switched bach to my summer set. Ive had a very good Indy look at it and he s baffled, cant trace it.

The missus I've consigned to the back seat ashtray . Keeps her quiet at all times. So the noise is not her.
Another clue, but I think, but not sure so only a guess, driving over a bump might start the noise sometimes, but not always. I'll check out all leads given here , and PS, I ve room for another wife in the front ashtray if any PHer needs disposing of same.

Try adjusting the climate control temps side to side, when the system requires a boost (left and right temp differences etc) the electric coolant pump in nsf arch switches on - as chris says, its a known noise and can be improved by isolating the pump from its mount and surroundings.......
