Can someone confirm that when purchasing a new Porsche, the 3rd year warranty is automatically applied as a part of the OTR price?
i.e. In order for the new car to have only 2 years warranty, the buyer would have to request to delete the option?

I was corrected on this recently. My understanding was that the purchaser paid for the 3rd. year and didn't have an option but I was advised that you can delete the 3rd year cost before you hit the buy button.

IIRC, the UK configurator has the option but unticked.

The configurator has the 3rd year warranty as a part of the OTR price, with no option to remove it.

I have a dealer saying that the 3rd year warranty has to effectively be requested like an option.
I believe that isn't true?

You're right, it's included. I could swear it was removable when it was released. Anyhooo...

Which dealer? Reading should be able to clear it up.

I am not going to name the dealer, because I am hoping that is just a mistake on their part
If they don't come through, I will seek some official clarification.

I was hoping someone here may have a definite answer in the meantime

3rd year warranty and Porsche Assist is an option, you can remove. I have removed both from my 981S order.

I understand that you can remove the warranty and assist if you want to.

The question is, does the customer have to ask for it to be removed? ie a dealer removing the 3rd year warranty without discussing it with the customer, in order to reduce finance payments, is a no no?

You might be getting ripped. When I bought my 911 (OPC) the dealer added the Approved Warranty Cost to the sticker price on the invoice. Nice try.

What's the reason behind not taking up the 3rd year warranty?

There is no advantage taking it out ,it does not save you money and you might sell/total the car in the 3 years.

I'm not following. Surely the advantage of this 3rd year warranty is that if something breaks between the 25th to 36th month of ownership you are covered?

Apologies if I'm missing something.

Some things will be covered as it will not be manufacturers warranty just the extended one.

I think the point is that it costs the same to add it on at the end of year 2, so why pay up front (you can't get it back if you sell after 18 months).

As for the inspection cost I think that as a service and brake fluid change is due at the end of 2 years, and the OPC will be happy to look for any work they can claim under the manufacturer's warranty, you've got good chance of not paying an inspection fee on top if you ask nicely.

I thought this too but WL OPC said they can no longer do this
