I have a 2010 Gen 2 Boxster. Now with 11,000 miles, the rears are getting close to the wear bars. Is it absolutely necessary to replace with original Pirelli P Zeros N2? There seem to be other brands, Conti, Goodyear F1 Eagle that are cheaper, but am I asking for trouble??

Depends on your "warranty" status - if your car will shortly need the inspection to move into the 3rd year of warranty, you will need 4 tyres of the same make with the same N rating. An N2 Pirelli (pair across the axle) matched with an N2 Michelin (pair across the other axle) won't count.

as long a they are N rated - matters not what all 4 tyres are as long as they are the same make/model!

PS - good Luck with finding GoodYear's - I have had them on my car for 30,000 miles and think they are brilliant - so now its off to Bridgestone next week!

Khushy, don't get the Bridgestones. They are very noisy and offer poor grip in cold weather. If you can't get Goodyears go for Michelins.

summer is coming - with the top down noise is irrelevant - I like Bridgestones!

The Bridgestones give better steering feel (stiffer side wall?) than the Michelins (quieter, more grip in wet). You pays your money and takes your choice...

Can Porsche supply Pirelli P-Zero N2s individually?

Give KF a try, they are currently doing 25% off all tyres, got a great deal on Michelin cups for the RS smile

However, they aren't going to fit them wink

i moved to Bridgestones after Michelin and founds them much better. The michelins were dangerous in the cold and wet..
