Has anyone successfully obtained short term insurance for their Porsche? Tried a couple of obvious websites but they wouldn't do it for a cayman. Car is uninsured at the moment. Fancy taking it for a long weekend and don't really want to shell out for the full year (1k+ for me).

Any other clever (legal) ways around this also appreciated.

Thanks

Add the Porsche to another policy temporarily - can that be done?

It's only just become uninsured, so I'm trying to decide whether to insure it short term/full term/or just SORN it. Haven't had any letters from the DVLA yet. The new law on this is a real pain - complete waste of money.

I'll see how this thread goes. I might just have to bite the bullet and get insurance for the year frown

Some companies will insure Porsches for a couple of days at a time (a chap with a 964 I know does this - he isn't in a high risk occupation and he's 30+). I can't vouch for the quality of the cover tho - sorry. If you arrange cover for 12 months, some insurers will suspend road risk cover for you if you ask them providing the car is kept in a locked garage. Various different conditions apply but it means you get a return premium at the end of the year, and you've still got fire, theft while your car's off the road.
