911 GT3 RS 4.0L Buying advise
Discussion
Hi all,
What you think of the price for this would be in about 2-3 years time? I was going to invest some money into a property but I’m in a good position to buy a nice 911 GT3 RS 4.0L for just under 190£K.
It’s a left hand drive with most optional extras added on as well.
Do you think the value of this would drop allot ?
Idea is to buy it, do few track days , enjoy the car and sell it on or even keep it if it works out.
When it comes to selling I think it will take some time as I can see there is one for sale now here on PH for 190K + VAT, been on sale since January.
What you guys think?
Thanks in advance

less than £190k!For the same money you could buy a 997.1 RS *and* a Scud. Both safe money imo.
that choice on a sunny sunday is to die for
plus rare cars indeed
why not a 360 cs ...100k gets you a minter ...and only 115 rhd
the other 90k into a sml property with a sml yield to defend your cash position on the 360 if it gos down ...which it prob wont

why not buy this one ?
or do you have to pay vat on this ?

How do you justify that taking into account 6T3, 7GT3 values, rarity, cost when new?
I consider it's price now a total abomination. New it was circa £125k, and the fickle will jump out of it when the 991 version comes in. You'll see a huge correction. Fantastic car, but nothing is bomb proof. Look at the Scud, and although the 4 is rarer, the 4 has commanded a higher premium and has further to fall IMO. Way, way overpriced at the mo. Defo sub £100k in 2-3 years. The GT3 RS 4.0 is an awesome car. Some people might even say that it is the best car you can buy (if available) on the market at this point in time. This car should be bought (if you have the opportunity) for this in mind. If it happens to retain its value over time you should take that as an added bonus. Fact is, that the 4.0 will probably be the last analog car of its time. The combination of the naturally aspirated Mezger engine with its race heritage and a manual gearbox will probably be the last of its kind. The floppy paddle gearboxes will take over as they are both quicker and more fuel efficient. The steering is still hydraulic but will make way for an electric one which is also more fuel efficient - and probably not as bad as people would want to make it.
For comparisons as to price you have to bear in mind you will have to look at the German market - on mobile.de where a couple are advertised at a "reasonnable" premium to list price but with 10-15k kilometres under their belly. Also, when comparing the list price, you have to take into account, that there was a pretty extensive options list (this being Porsche). Mine is a fully specced one which includes PCCB brakes, Communication package, full leather, and a front end lifting system. This easily adds another 30k to the list price.
It is not an early car premium price you are paying, which was the case with the 458 or (would you believe) the MP C12. This will always evaporate once the early demand has been satisfied. With the RS 4.0 there are no more. 600 where produced (less than 1 per OPC) and they have all been sold and there are no more to come. So the question remains:
Will the 991 GT3 be a quicker car ? - undoubtedly. Will it be a better car or better value? - who knows.
Will it fall to 100k - unlikely - unless the geezer on this board knows something we all don't know - which I doubt.
For what I can say, this is a fantastic car to drive - quite extraordinary in fact and for that alone it is probably worth considering because there aren't that many alternatives out there.
Good luck hunting!

Agreed, a special case. Also agree with you re the 996. But taking other 'owner/geezers' opinions out of the equation for the moment, I would liken it to the CS at best in market appreciation terms, but it's still not an F Car. It's yet another varient of the GT3, which was a another varient of the 997, and although superb in every detail, I cannot see how in 2-3 years it will not be sub £100k. Certainly not a 'classic', as the CS isn't either. I think the term classic is bandied about as an American would use the word 'awsome' in many cases.Wait for the 991 GT3. Acid test.

The 991 will be faster, more comfortable etc, but (maybe because of) may end up improving the appeal of the 997 GT3's, and the 4.0 especially so.Wait for the 991 GT3. Acid test.
Those who track the 4.0 cars will probably switch, but I expect there will be many 4.0 garage queens.
