So I’ve done 7,000 miles in my 996 C2 since I bought it in January and last week there was this weird noise coming from the front and I’m like, ‘No way. It’s the IMS.’ So I checked and it was the CD player rattling so all good.
Then this morning I took it to an Indy to get a service quote and he said that there was a bit of a rumble coming from the back so I decked the
and took it to the OPC for a new IMS but they said it just needed new tyres so that’s sorted.
And my mate just bought this 997 C4, right? And he found out yesterday that his 16 year old daughter’s up the duff and he phoned me and he’s like, “I dunno mate, can’t be sure like but I took her to the GP – you know the geezer with the C4S – and we reckon her IMS failed.”
Have any other Pork pilots had similar IMS failures? I think we should be told.

this is the second time i've clicked this link, & no, i'm still absolutely none the wiser as to what on earth it is you're going on about?
Fair one. It's a vaguely bored moment / pi55poor satire on the preponderance of people to rain down IMS related doom and gloom on the previously cheerful potential 996/7 owner
...allthough it probly keeps residuals lower than they perhaps ought to be

You do realise that you have now tempted the cruel hand of fate, dont you? Then this morning I took it to an Indy to get a service quote and he said that there was a bit of a rumble coming from the back so I decked the

When I first started reading the Pistonheads forums, it was because i'd intended to buy a TVR T350. After reading many, many, MANY threads I decided I couldn't do it due to all the negativity and thought, "stuff it, i'll buy a 911 instead, they're bulletproof", which I did. Had been reading the forum for years before registering. Had I spent a fair bit of time in the Porsche section though (Had only really read the article about failures not being as extreme as rumoured) I probably would've went for something else again! I now wonder if every manufacturer section on here is as bad, and how many prospective car purchases they've scared off...................It's a vaguely bored moment / pi55poor satire on the preponderance of people to rain down IMS related doom and gloom on the previously cheerful potential 996/7 owner

(My 911 works by the way!)
