Porsche 968 prices

I'm think of off-loading my 968 given it's either going to be stuck in storage or a garage when i move home later this year. Looking around at the classifieds - prices are as low as £7k. My weekend drive is a blue 1993 coupe with all the usual mechanical bits sorted (belts, diff) and i've spent nearly £5k on the car since i bought it. Is the market for 968s likely to get better or shall i just get rid of it now and take the hit? Also, has anyone chopped in their car at a dealer - just to avoid hassle and time-factor i.e. weeks rather than months?

£2K?? That can't be for a running car can it? S2 prices are above that for anything with an MOT so 968s should be at least a bit higher. there's still demand for good 944s so why should 968s have become an "unloved niche"?Only immaculate concourse-standard 968s (for the collectors), nice cabs and, of course, CS or turbo, will hold their value over time IMO. Average coupes or tips will continue to fall in just the same way that other comperable cars are. Keep it and use it more.....
when I bought my 944 s2 (approx a month ago), I had a 3-4k budget. I kept my eyes on 968s for something a bit more modern, and nothing came up below 5k.
I've never seen one for 2k. not to say no-one has ever spent that, but at 2k I would expect it to be very broken. Most S2s for that money are a bit ropey
eta : that said theres a high mile one on ebay for £4500. Either way. I personally only see the values continuing gently down. 924s and 944s have yet to find a bottom, swapping hands below £1000

I was going to say, feel free to pop round with your 968, but then i noticed your were in Hong Kong.Its not a Sport, or Club Sport, but it is a very original Coupe (aside from wiper delete) which has had all the typical 968 issues sorted. Leather seats (particularly the drivers side) need a refurb, else it's a keeper. I'll get some photos done in any case.

I just looked at your garage - 'Bought for £6,900 in May 2007 at 119,100 miles. Now worth about £8,500 at 125,000 miles.'
If its in good condition, its probably worth about £5k. Considering you bought it for £6.9k, 5 years ago, I would say you have done VERY well, even with the 5k spend, thats only 1k per annum maintenance.
£8.5k is dreaming I'm afraid. You get a nice 'Sport' for that which most prefer.
In terms of the near to medium term, I cant see these moving much, so if you can afford to keep it, then why not?

Sorry, I would also have to agree that das ist schumakers as well. Have a look at the PH classifieds. I also just had a look at 968 prices on mobile.de.

This is the approach we are taking, from now on we will just run the car using bangernomics as it only becomes a money pit if one wants them to be perfect. It let us down the other week leaving us stranded but all it needed is a new battery and a new part in the door handle. For what they are worth now is there really anything that can touch a 968 that is mechanically sound? I don't think so. Ours has like new leather, fresh suspension and working aircon as well. Sounds crazy but I use a Fiat Panda now as my main car and mrs NJH will continue to use the 968 as an occasional shopping car. Stick it on an Admiral multi-car policy and your only looking then at a bit of RFL each year and somewhere to keep the thing.blade7 said:

A couple of years ago even wheezy imports were going for north of £5k, I can't see prices having tanked since then. If anyone is knocking out 968 s at £2k I might go and get my cheque book.majordad said:

Troll....? Most cars are down at the moment its all relative, but I and many others would love to pick up a clean 968 coupe for £2k, £5k is generally the baseline for a decent car with a few miles on.
