Which wheels for Porsche 964 C2?
Discussion
I've just had the suspension changed for Bilstein PSS10 @ Centre Gravity (highly recommended) and the aftermarket Cup 1 wheels now seem too heavy. I think they are over 12kg each (estimate). If I was looking for some sub 10kg wheels, what suggestions does anyone have? I definitely want to stick to 17" wheel size since I've heard so many reports of 18" wheels being unsatisfactory on this car.
Sport Classic (BBS) 17" - 9kg
New Fuchs 17" (when released) - 8kg
Beyond this I'm struggling - thoughts appreciated.

Genuine Cup 1s? Circa £1000/set
I'm not sure of the weight but 996 C4 wheels (5 symmetrical almost triangular looking spokes) suit 964s nicely - they were dead cheap when they (rarely) came up on eBay because no-one wants 17s for 996s, circa £3-400/set
If you mean the Boxster ones, apparently they are pretty much the lightest Porsche wheels you can buy!I'm not sure of the weight but 996 C4 wheels (5 symmetrical almost triangular looking spokes) suit 964s nicely - they were dead cheap when they (rarely) came up on eBay because no-one wants 17s for 996s, circa £3-400/set

Depends on the look you're going for, but I really like the Volks TE37s on older Porsches. And depending on your cars colour, I like them in the dull gold colour. Also, benefit is, you can always sell them separately from your car if you ever want to and get 80% of your money back (same with the BBS).

Yep, I bought my 964 with 986 Boxster S wheels on it (same wheel also be found on early 996 C2's).MTR
The 996 C4 wheels look different (spokes are more "petal" shaped) but also a good fit.

Only in 18" I think? Though I too like the look, I've heard enough folks express disappointment over 18" wheels on a 964 that I think I'll avoid it.thegoose said:

I've yet to see a set of genuine Cup 1's for £1,000 but if you can point me in the right direction that'd be great.
Really? There was a lovely set of recently refurbed black ones on PH about a month ago, £800.00 (ad is still there I think)
Those 993 ones sound like a bargain - although bolt-on spacers are required to fit them to a 964.
I've got 17" sport classics on my 993 and the car handles really well on them. The previous owner told me they were recomended by his Indy when they replaces the front suspension and steering rack instead of the 18" twists previously on the car.
I was also told that Sport Classics were available as an option on the 993 but not sure how accurate that is.

For genuine Porsche wheels brand new these Sport Classics look good value:

Thanks. Have seen these and am tempted. Thought I'd ask for collective advice first. It's expensive to make mistakes.http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/porsche_alloy_whe...
