997.1 GT3 RS Front Splitter vs kerb
Discussion
I use the CUP ones...much cheaper at GBP150, but much softer too and lower, so tend to scrape even more (every single speed bump must be taken sideways).
I'm on my 3rd CUP lip in 15kmiles - there is 18 speed bumps on my way to the tennis club x return x 2/3 times a week...that's a lot of speed bumps ahahahahah!
Order them from JZM - and order a spare in advance (that's what i do)

My is just pretty scratched up and the original RS item with the lower gurney strip.
OPC want circa £180 for the splitter and another £200 for the gurney lip
It's fairly light scratching - is it possible to "work" these with wet & dry?
Also, is the SuperCup unit (with vents) just a direct replacement and can be fitted without bumper removal?

These are the ones i get from JZM - they are a direct replacement.Takes 5min to replace at most: pull the old one, and stick the new one. They are about 6 "click in" notches
note: there is one Torx screw on each side of the original splitter by the wheel arch - i dont bother reusing them. The splitter won't pull off easily if in place correctly and all the notches securely fastened.

As he said - you can get the CUP spoiler from OPC with or without brake cooling openings (there is no need for the "vented" one). There is no guerney strip on the CUP item. The bumper can stay on, but there is one Torx screw either side holding it on from the bottom. So you'll need either a really short torx driver or a ramp/jack. Here in Germany the Cup spoiler/splitter is 95 € as far as I remember. OPC want circa £180 for the splitter and another £200 for the gurney lip

The Cup spoiler also uses guerney strips at the front of the wheel arch - I purchased mine for about 20 € I believe? All it is is a piece of flexible plastic and 3 or 4 Torx screws. Does Bolt straight on, albeit you may have to drill the front PU bumper (mine has a cup bumper so the holes were already there). While your at it, go for those as well as it may look a bit funny without them (spoiler protrudes at the trailing edge ahead of the front wheels otherwise).
Can give you the part# if you wish.
Hi
If the damage is only of the scrape/scratch type then you can affect quite a good repair as follows:-
Rub the affected area down with DRY Wet and Dry paper of varying grades until the scratches "Blend in" - then a final rub with fine WET wet and dry.
Ensure the area is completely dry then use (preferably) Black ZEBO Fire Grate Polish (You can get it from hardware shops etc)or (Not as good) Black Shoe polish - Apply - wait until dry then using a shoft shoe brush gentry "buff" to a finish.
Don't use the usual Rubber dressings etc as this will not cover the remaining marks so good.
Hope this helps!?

i like to keep car's as factory spec - dont change it for something different, the rs was perfect "Just as they made it"
I'd normally agree, but £400+ for the RS splitter and £126 for the SuperCup splitter and it's an item that'll get damaged every year.Think i'll order a SuperCup one and keep the RS one to clean up and stick back on the car at a later date

Actually a good idea to keep it: i had to change my Cup splitter back to the old scrubby one to get my 2-year warranty renewal approved - even though the Cup splitter is original! (we actually changed the splitter in the courtyard)Top tip chaps.
Tried the boot polish thing - didn't work for me.
Rub the affected area down the 100 grit block (dry) and then various grades of wet and dry (with soapy water)
Clean thoroughly with meths. Get an airbrush kit, mask off bumper and use Gliptone Leather Scuffmaster dye (plain black). Add 1mm of gloss enhancer and apply several very light coats. Leave to dry for a few hours.
Spray AutoGlym Vinyl & Rubber Care onto the whole splitter and leave for 1 hour. Wipe with Micro-fibre and the splitter is as new.
I had some really deep scratches still showing as white marks even after sanding and the splitter looked awful. Looks brand new again now.

Think I'll keep mine on for another few months, then swap it for a shiny new number. The car scrapes coming out of the garage e.v.e.r.y. time so I don't see the point in worrying about it. Scrapes are a fact of life with the Gen 1 GT3. Like s
