Evening Gents,

Got in car this morning and noticed this...

The climate LCD seems to be to be oozing from the left, I'm guessing the display is buggered! All functions work ok so it appears only to be a cosmetic thing at the mo...but I don't like it and it's annoying me! Does anyone know how to remove the unit?..I don't mind nuts and bolts but historically me and bits of interior trim don't get on, so any help on getting it out would be appreciated.

Cheers

Pull the side panels off and it will become obvious. They come off pretty easily if you pull them from the side near the bulkhead.

BBA reman can repair it i think - google for their website

To remove it: pull out the cd storage - just clips in then prise the trim out round the AC display and undo the two torx screws beneath the trim......

looks like you're heading for a solar eclipse as the temperature rises. could you not replace with a salvage part?

Spot on, thanks Pope...took about 2 mins with the help of the flexible friend and the correct torx bit, onwards and upwards. smile

Possibly, thing is, there are that many part numbers depending on date of manufacture I'm not sure if the functionality/connections are all the same or I need to specifically find one with the exact same part no. as the one I have.

It is fairly straight forward to repair the unit yourself. I did it a couple of years ago buying a replacement screen etc from these guys

Cheers John, I was actually just looking at these on t'ebay

Looks like it would be cheaper to approch ModuleMaster directly via your link. Just waiting to get a confirmed price back from BBA Reman for a repair but my guess is this will be exactly what they will do.

So, it's fairly straightforward to dismantle & replace the LCD panel then?

I managed it ok, and if you go for the module master kit it comes with fairly clear instructions. I'm not a complete muppet with the tool kit but certainly no genius either. No soldering required - small headed, electrical type screwdrivers were as complicated as it got from memory. What could possibly go wrong !

Just a quick update...

OPC wanted £401 + VAT for a new unit, less the usual bit of discount but still out of the question.
BBA Reman were asking £250 + VAT + Carriage to repair my unit...another non-starter.

So, ordered a replacement LCD panel from ModuleMaster thanks to the link above and decided to give it a whirl. The whole procedure took about a half hour and only needed a couple of philips screwdrivers and a pair of pliers...simples.

Thanks to all above for help & advice. smile

Brilliant. I love when stuff gets fixed like that and you avoid the OPC getting involved.
