I took my 986 Boxster out of winter storage at the beginning of March, and since it was a nice day at the time decided to put the hood down. I took the hood to the point where the plastic rear window was just beginning to fold, ready for the "Boxster Chop". Did the chop and heard an ominous cracking sound.....I had cracked the plastic window close to the point where it meets the hood. See pic below (duct tape is temporarily covering the crack).

In hindsight a combination of being stored long term and the temperature at the time only being around 10 degrees means I probably should have waited a while before moving the hood.

Anyway, managed to find a fairly local firm specialising in fitting of replacement hoods, and this time I opted for the glass rear window. The window is slightly narrower that the plastic one, but I think I can live with that.
A couple of pics of the finished arrticle are shown below

Looks good and you will learn to live with it - the Spyders rear window is half the size again!

Hood was supplied and fitted by Trimline Systems, just outside Edinburgh.
It was an Ultramaxx hood.
£850 all in
Have to say I'm pleased with the end result smile
