Had a look at a 996 (Late 2001 facelift) at the weekend and the drivers side light was badly yellowed and looked like it had let in moisture as well. So I'd be looking at replacing it and trying to factor in the cost of getting a 2nd hand one.

Stupidly I didn't get the option codes on the car. This one has headlight washers so I'm trying to find out if they would only be fitted to Litronic/Bi-Xenon headlights or could also be on standard lights as I see there is a seperate option code for both.

Can anyone confirm. Cheers

Hi,

The litronic headlights all have power wash function as they have to by law.

Not seen a headlight with power wash that was not litronic.

That does not make sense as even the porsche configurator does not list headlight wash without litronic option? Sure that it has right bumper as seen this before when a car has been through a bodyshop once. Not saying that car has.

only way to get headlight wash is to go for the Dynamic Light System offering bendy and extended range liights at higher speeds.

Bi-xenon lights all have to have self levelling adjustment and washers otherwise they are illegal (as as they blind every fecker coming the other way!) IIRC I think they've just changed the MOT to test for it, in order to route out all the barryboys with aftermarket HID lights that dazzle

In answer to the original question, as far as I know regular 996 lights couldn't be specced with washers . If you wanted them then you had to opt for Litronics

Thanks all. Looks like I'll have to factor in a fair bit for a replacement light then. Seem to be around £5-600 2nd hand.
