What are the options for warranties currently?

I have always had the Porsche extended warranty for my Boxster, but now that Porsche are asking over £1,000 for the warranty including the 111 point check, I really don't think that it is worth it. ARe there any other options available please?.

Thanks,
Mike.

None that are as comprehensive. In fact you'll find the third-party warranties (Warranty Wise, Warranty Direct, etc) aren't actually that much cheaper. A better option than those would be a maintenance contract from the likes of Hartech - if they're local.

I'd looked at that too as I'm just about to take the plunge into my first pork (likely a 986)but Hartech aren't exactly local. Anyone know of any other specialists offering anything similar to Hartech? I haven't been able to find anything so am in the OPs boat.

Are you renewing or buying from scratch?

Porsche quote £829 for a one year renewal and £1,595 for a two year renewal. The 111 point check is £180+VAT but I always got this waived by getting the OPC to do it at the same time as the service, so by renewing for two years at each two year service I kept the cost down to £797.50 per year, which seemed OK to me.

Do you need the Porsche Assistance? You should be able to get a price just for the Warranty which is £660 I think.

Cheers,

Geoff

Last year they did the check when they serviced it as you say, there is no service due this year so I have to pay for the check £220 ish inc VAT, as you say I can get it without the Porsche Assist, but it would still be £860 ish.

The 111 point check is a complete rip-off to my mind, it adds no value to me and is purely there to protect the warranty company - my car has been serviced by OPCs from the start, on time, using Porsche parts. It just smacks of the PPI fiasco to me.

Thanks for the input though, after 10 years of Porsche's it may be time to swap marque - this is really leaving a sour taste !!!.

Cheers,
Mike.

Dont bother wasting your money on warranty, mine expired on my 2006 c2s over a year ago and I never renewed, have spent a max of £200 on minor issues like coil pack and tandem pump. Also need new battery and Tyres and went for bosch/vredestien non n rated Tyres and saved approx £600 on what porsche would have made me get to keep in warranty rules.

I figure I have saved over £1500 in the last year after any repairs by not getting warranty - take a risk it's good for the soul smile
