993 / 964 KPH Speedometer

I have moved to Australia and am about to ship my 993 over from the UK.

Does anyone have or know where I might find a KPH speedometer that they would like to sell or swap for an MPH version ?

If it helps I did the same thing 18 months ago. I used a company that does this for Porsche and are based down south. I think I got the companies details from 911box. Give 911box a call and I'm sure they will pass on the info.

I just took the speedo out and sent it down to them and they sent it back a week later. Did a great job and it cost about £100.

My 964 was originally sold in Japan. The speedo was replaced with an mph unit when it was imported into the UK, but it still has the original rev counter/trip computer (reading in kilometres and litres). Can this be converted to read in imperial units?

I'm afraid not. They are physically different units - a change is the only option.

Thanks - I guess I should be able to get it registered with the MPH sppedo (with small KPH markings), and can then find your chap and get this sorted. Can you remember if you had to change anything else ?

No nothing else before shipping. The compliance garage will do the rest when it gets here.

Make sure you empty the AC gas though!

I'm just about to return to Australia with a 993 Turbo S and i was hoping i could press you for information.

Can you tell me what were all the ADR changes required and how much did they cost?

Hi Red Rose,

I'm about to import a 993 Turbo S. How did your import process go? Were there any surprises?

What advice/info could you give me about the various steps...approval, shipping, compliance, registering (Which state?)

I'm about to apply for the VIA under the personal scheme. I'll be shipping to either Brisbane or Sydney.
