If what you mention is actually the same thing, then yes. My car has Bose, and that has surround sound. However, for what it's worth, I don't have the surround option on as it sounds strange. Music is meant to be played in stereo from left and right speakers.
Sure, if you wanted to listen to Lord of the Rings then it might seem worthwhile.

Bose in the 987.2/997.2 cars is actually very good I find and would be an option worth having, but the Bose in the equivalent gen1 cars is vile and you'll spend forever and a day trying to get anything approaching a decent sound out of it for one track, and then you'll play the next track and need to fiddle all over again.
Shame really, but at least they did make the effort to improve it on the gen2 cars.

Bose in a 987 was terrible. All bass and nothing else. Consistent with Bose products really.
I believe the phrase is something like "all mids no highs or lows". I was so fed up with mine I had it all ripped out and something decent installed...

As for the OPs question, in the 987 there was a "Surround sound" option in the settings though all it did was over process and colour the sound so it sounded even more artificial! And I did try sticking a 100% lambs wool Jumper INSIDE the sub on the parcel shelf - it improved the bass response but after 5 minutes I made up my mind to rid of it.
