OPCs aren't all bad
Discussion
Once again Cambridge have my servicing job so dropped off there lunchtime. Left for a little weekend road trip in a nice new 3.4 carrera in black with cream sports seats.
A bit rainy and damp so I can only so far report the second leg of my journey was slightly less exciting than the first. Whether that's good or bad I can't say.
It's a lot nicer than I was expecting inside but you really do need to work that engine to get much speed out of it and the 7 speed box quite accurate. Nice compliant ride too. I've lost all sense of speed since the GT2 but the noises from the passenger seat suggested it's quick ish.
Maybe I'll have more to say about the car before I return it Tuesday but my main point is how Cambridge are once again setting the customer service standard for me.

That's maybe a couple of hundred miles so far on mixed roads in rain and misery. And I'm really enjoying it. Coming to te car in the dark the lights on unlock are cool as hell and the hires display in the rightmost instrument circle is great too.
Fairly compliant ride compared to what I'm used is highly useful in rain but I'm becoming frustrated by that engine. It's just so flat through the midrange and I don't think the gear spacings are quite right for keeping it in the power. When you work it I'm genuinely surprised at the pace, 2nd and 3rd gear roads it's
pretty amazing for a 3.4
I think i'd love a try in the S it might just be strong enough for really decent progress.
They've also got the looks bang right now. Every time I look at this car I'm very impressed, the front looks so much mire muscular than before. Still 100% 911 in and out but a bit more muscular looking.
Still a couple of days and couple of hundred miles left but my impression is definitely going in the right direction!

Just to close the circle I returned the carrera today and picked up the beast. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3.4 although it was starting to feel quite fast when I got back in the beast I realised just how much torque that GT2 has, it's truly awesome to be back behind the wheel.
Once again Cambridge were A1. No extra work, new battery and radiator under warranty and just a couple of bulbs added to the quote. Friendly pickup once more all completely how you'd want a main dealer experience.
Sadly I can't renew the warranty again so I'm spending that money in three weeks at Centre Gravity for a complete suspension rebuild and adjustment. TBH at 42k miles it's not feeling quite as together as it once did and certainly needs more attention than the brand new 991 i just handed back.
