Upgrading the 993 immobiliser
Discussion
Yes suggest you use Hamilton & Palmer [Porsche OEM] in Sevenoaks, 01732 760022 www.hamilton-palmer.co.uk
They have upgraded mine & they came to my home, not much if any difference in cost

Prompted by the recent thread on the 993's Thatcham 2 immobiliser, I think it's time to upgrade my 993 to a Thatcham 1 security system with remote and closure.
Anyone done this -- and got a recommendation as to where to get it installed? I'm in E Sussex...
I had a cat 1 alarm/immobiliser fitted in East Sussex, but it was subcontracted out by Paragon when I bought the car, so it was done by whoever they use. Presumably Paragon send them a lot of Porsches, which is always a good thing when someone is dismantling your car. I'll have a look for the paperwork if you like.
The only paperwork I have is the installation certificate, which doesn't give much away except the company name, which was Road Radio, and the fitter, Tony Layton. Presumably this is them:

They did a good job on my car.

I ended up using Hamilton & Palmer to install a PA2000 (Cat 2 to Cat 1 conversion kit).
They were very helpful and sent a chap to my house to do the work. He turned when he said he would and did the job efficiently. It all works well -- in fact, he reckons they make the kit for Porsche themselves.
Highly recommended (usual disclaimer applies).

Sure -- it was £320 plus a £30 call-out charge since I live a bit further out than they'd normally go. Plus VAT, natch.
The original system was (not sure what you call it) an immobiliser with a small fob that you shove in a slot in the dash, which disarms it for 30 seconds or so.
It got to be a real pain, because you have to turn the ignition off, remove the ignition key and disarm the system to restart it after a wait in the car. This then reboots the satnav, etc etc. Plus it's less secure than a Cat 1.
