Morning All,

Im thinking of chopping in my C4 Cab which I bought in Jan and my TVR cerbera for a GT3 or GTS ( this topic is not a debate about which is better or more suitable BTW! biggrin)

I expect to get a kick in the nuts on the C4 as I havent had it that long, however would the lack of Nav on a 2007 car bother you that much?

For example. I spoke to a dealer this morning who have a 2007 C2S cab in the same colour as mine with Nav and 32k miles up for 44k. they've bid me a massive amount less than that for my car which is a C4 ( not S) without nav but with Bose, sports exhaust, 2 yr warranty and is mint having come from an OPC in Jan. I know its not worth anywhere near 40k and I dont think theres is either, but realistically with summer coming, what do you guys think is a reaonable figure for this car? Its 2007 manual, in cobalt blue with grey, 28,000 miles, and is mint. its lacking the S and the Nav but in my mind I simply cannot rationalise the valuations just becuase it doesn't have an out of date Nav system.

Thanks.

O

Lack of nav wouldnt worry me - I have it in mine and still use a tom tom! It may bother some buyers but I would have thought the PSE (not that common) and the warranty would more than compensate. I would have thought 35-36 as a private sale. Good luck with it. Hopefully the sun will come out soon!

When I sold my Boxster S (987.1, 2006) a few years back I was clobbered on resale for lack of Nav. Dealers everywhere told me that 'buyers expect it in expensive cars'.

Make of that what you will, but it seems to be a standard line.

You say you bought the C4 from a dealer in Jan. What's his bid to take it back?

hes still hiding under his desk biggrin

to be honest im very reasonable on this. My dealer doesnt have anyihng we can massage the figures on to make a deal happen at present. My 2 questions were firstly related to the lack of Nav which frankly doesnt bother me and I imagine many others. Why would you want to pay 2k for an out of date system anyway?

the second issue was I had received a bid on my car from a dealer with a C2S in the same colour and year but with higher mileage which was almost 20k less than they were retailing theirs for. Their car was on at 44k and they bid 26 on mine, seems a little bonkers. Even allowing for 6-7kmark up on their car I thought it was a hell of a piss take! either theirs is bonkers expensive( which it is) or theyre just being silly.

Id be happy to sell mine privately for early-mid 30s as its mint as stated earlier.

I wouldn't go to a dealer who has a similar car & expect a good bid tbh, you're simply asking them to put all their eggs in one basket.

If/when they do find a buyer wanting a cobalt blue cab, they won't sell your car as they'll automatically try & shift the other one first.

As for the nav, useless or not people do expect it on expensive cars & you ain't gonna change it.

These scenrios are always quite amusing:

[dealer when selling]
"Sat-nav is a complete non-issue. It's a sports car. Doesn't need it. Makes No difference to the car's value"

[dealer when buying]
"Hmmmmm, no sat-nav. That's a real issue. Buyers expect it in expensive cars"

Well, presumably, when you bought it in Jan, it was cheaper (£1k-£2K) than equivalent cars with Nav then, so if you get about the same less now, you haven't lost anything for not having the Nav.

your not comparing apple with apples though, a C2S Cab is much more desirable than a a C4 Cab, the later being the slowest 997 available to buy (no offence intended). Your trade offer is not disimilar to the sort of figures i was getting for my C2S last year, dealer offers £21k whilst having another worst(higher milage, lower spec, less warranty) car retailing at £27,995, telling me they would retail my car at less that £25k (not to mentioned the 3-5k they had in the car i wanted to potential buy!) its just greed IMO suffice to say i've still got my car wink

give 911v a ring, out off everyone i tried they offered me the best(in prinicpal) cash price , better than even "specialists" part ex prices! in retrospect i should of drove it straight down there and took the cash!

noe taken - I agree, it was really for my wife but now shes not driving it very much I wantt o chop it in for a "proper " one :-)

My point was that I didnt think that even with a 6-7k margin that the figures for either car stood up. anyway im labouring a point thats probably only niggling me and I shoud ignore.

thanks for the additional info.
