Hi all,

I'm currently deciding whether to take the plunge and place an order for the 991 or 991S but, funny as it sounds, mpg is quite a big factor for me.

I'll be using the car as a daily driver, and while petrol is not cheap, it's the pain of having to continually stop to refill that bothers me as I do around 18k miles per year.

Obviously I'm not expecting to see it get near the 33mpg advertised figure but can anyone shed any light on what a real world mpg figure would be for the 991 or 991S?

Thanks for your help!

Mrs only had her car a week, but on short trips, I don't think it's done more than 5 miles in any one journey, she's getting 22mpg.

I think if you're doing that many miles, you'll get decent average consumption in either car. I often get nearly 30mpg on the daily commute (includes motorway at a steady 50mph) in my GTS although the lifetime average is nearer 25 on account of my hooning addiction!! And the 991 is supposed to be less thirsty.

Pick the car which will give you the most pleasure. When you do the sums, the 10% greater efficiency of the vanilla C2 only means 5 fewer petrol station stops per year!!

I'm getting 28-34mpg on long motorway journeys - the best I've recorded was 36.7 on a busy motorway where the traffic was moving at 60-70 mph. I rarely get less than 20, even when pushing on!

Wow that is quite something. I struggle to get much higher than 29 mpg in my GTS.

Sounds about right for a car still bedding in.

However, I don't find the PDK helps improve mpg at all. It's tuned to deliver better results in the official test but my 997.2 C2S with "only" 6 manual gears delivered better economy in a variety of uses than my 7 speed PDK GTS w/overdrive. By some margin. Not that I'm complaining. Mpg is the last reason to choose PDK over manual.
