Anyone bought a Cayman R recently?
Discussion
Considering a Cayman R (end of month) but used prices are sticking around £45k despite them not selling in months. A member on here who kindly helped me with another matter mentioned that his friend bought a brand new CR for around £45k (not sure of spec) which gives me the impression that Porsche are sitting on stock looking to sell at reduced rates.
Has anyone bought a brand new CR in recent months and managed to achieve a similar price tag, as I'm considering this approach at the time of buying to see what I can get. Would be interested in rough prices paid, whether finance was involved, what specs and if you tailored them or just bought what was already available but not at the OPC's.
Is the only way of finding out what stock Porsche have is through an OPC, as I've love to mooch a list and see what spec's they have.

As they dont make them and the new Cayman is a long way off, you seem to have no choice but pay the prices if you want one now.
As the cars with a few options ie PCM, PSE, can put these cars at 60k retail, 45k seems a good price for a car not yet a year old.
I also fancy one but a two year old one at 35k next year.

Sorry I cannot help with essential question. The 36months/30k miles GFV according to the configurator is circa £36k on a PDK. If one can be bought for £47k; the total cost for three years is probably circa £15k (including interest etc)....in that case, it's cheaper than a poxy 1 series- a must buy! Now where to find one?
i bought one of the last spec to order ones end jan and I had 1 day to spec it because production was at an end for the rhd cars.
Dealers no longer have any more cars and, with CRs apparently more rare than spyders, it's not surprising that dealers with 1 car left are hoping that punters wise up to how rare and special these cars are.
Afterall, it is the autocar 2011 car of the year..........

sorry the cr will not be rarer than spyders.dealers will be releasing stock throughout the year.£45k would have been for an ex demo car with a few thousand miles.you might get a new pre regd car with delivery miles for £50k(retail circa £58k)you have to be flexible with spec. thats how i bought my spyder, there is a nice peridot green car at silverstone, ignore the mileage advertised dealers often show miles on a delivery mileage cars no idea why.just make sure it has pse
That doesn't add up with the fact that these have been available used for £45k for months and still showing as available. It either suggests that the OPC's are happy to hold on to them hoping the demand will increase at existing prices, or the pricing isn't quite right. I'm not sure.
I'll get on to my OPC in the morning.

ring around the dealers see what they have close to spec you want and haggle
dont be afraid to ring dealers 100s of miles away they can deliver to a dealer nearer to you in group(ie a car from glasgow can be delivered to sussex opc as both sytner group or you could collect,my spyder came from sheffield 200 miles from where i live but helped to run in)

I considered that recently on one 200 miles from me, but because I couldn't confirm the condition, I didn't want it transferred because they wanted me to commit to the purchase. Not sure if this is the normal process.I have committed to cars left deposits, then refused them, not a lot they can do.
I am very fussy on condition, some people mint is way off the mark I find.
Distance selling rules keep you safe and you just get your deposit back.
The dealer who gets the car in for you has not see it either remember.
It's shocking how one garage mint is another's needing 1k prep.
For a cayman R not yet a year old it should be like new imo bar tiny stone chips on the front.
But I would only expect a very small road rash , not a chip so to speak.
My Spyder had a couple of small chips on it, it's to be expected at 2 years old and I would rather a tiny spec rather than a front end respray.
The issue is you get a better price buying off the dealer it is for sale with, so less haggling power.

Indeed. Ask them to email you a detailed description of the condition and anything else that concerns you. If it doesn't match up then that's their fault and your deposit comes back to you. Them's the rules. Unless they get you to sign something waiving your distance selling rights...mayes911 said:

throughout the year? production has ended mate (IN FEBRUARY 2012 worldwide). Unless they store them in a warehouse only to slowly release them I can't see where you are basing this on.Got mine last week from Leeds, ex demo with a great spec at 45k the new one in the showroom was specced at 63k and no movement on price which did not surprise me as when i picked mine up on Thursday they had sold another 6 month old cr for 45k as well(that was manual in white), as well as that they had sold 8 cars over 2 days!!!!!!
