Hi Folks,

On Saturday night, the Battery/Generator fault showed up on my dash. Voltage gauge is just a tiny bit below the 12V mark.

I had a look around yesterday and the car is starting fine, the drive belt is still intact and not slipping.

Would I be right in saying that my alternator has just given up?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Keith
PS - it's a 2002 C2 Manual.

Hi, yes it sounds about right.

It may just be the voltage regulaor pack on rear that has packed up.

Cheers, some threads suggest than when the part at the rear fails, that the voltage can fluctuate, mine just sits below 12, turn on the radio/lights etc and it drops a little more.

..mine starts up @14v, and gradually drops back towards 13v.. this is about what you'd expect, if you see much less than 13 with no lights on, you do have an alternator issue, however mine still cranks really slowly so I suspect my starter motor is about fooked..!

I've ordered a voltage regulator to try first. And if that's no good then i'll replace the alternator.

Thanks

Keith
