Sad times! Due to some pretty scary health stuff I've got to be all pragmatic and reduce excesses in the near term. So it's bye bye to the Cayman.

God I've enjoyed owning this car, more than any other by a country mile. It's been a hugely rewarding journey tbh, learning all the Porsche foibles and nuances, finally finding out what all the fuss is about and even experiencing some proper service from dealers! laugh Who'd of thunk it!

Seriously though, I'm amazed by what they have created in these cars and hope to return to the fold as soon as I sensibly can. But you gotta get your priorities right in life I say, and no point having it gather dust if I'm going to be out of action for an indefinite period.

Just thought I'd share what has been a thoroughly enjoyable ownership experience. Although I've had to cancel the European Tour I had planned to take with mrs, I'm genuinely not bitter as I feel lucky to have just had the chance own a Porsche for the last two years. Funny how events in life can make you savour things all the more.

So to all you Porsche owners out there; enjoy them! I hope to hear the legendary flat six howling in my ears again one day. thumbup

Doublesix - what's up? Looming heart attack or something? Keeping a car like this can speed recovery mate. You don't have to drive it, just look at it.

laugh Thanks man that made me laugh... and you're quite right, I do need things that will keep my chin up too! I broke a few ribs not long ago and the X-ray showed up something that shouldn't be there basically. They've ruled out the obvious stuff and have decided to move to operate. Although the risks of something sinister are low at my age (33), they are playing it safe due to family history etc... I'm bricking it tbh.

Problem is I'm not really able to work and that could be indefinite so seems prudent to start reigning things in.... gut wrenching though, I had no intention of letting go of my 987 for some time!

Sorry to hear that, wish you a speedy recovery and remember it's only stuff, your health is the most important thing.
You can get another car later.
Good luck.

Given the circumstances, what a fantastic outlook you have, Sir.

Hope your situation improves and that you get back behind the wheel of a Porsche soon.

As someone only a couple of years your junior and currently uuming and aaahhing about a Porsche, sometimes life is too short not to go with your heart - you never know what's round the corner

Best wishes

Hope everything turns out well buddy - medical science is amazing these days so whatever the outcome I'll reckon you'll be back in a porker tearing up the B roads quicker than you can say 'why on earth was I even worried?!'.

DoubleSix, I had a few months out of action a couple of years back and needed surgery/chemotherapy. Thankfully (touch wood and crossing my fingers at 4 monthly checkups) I'm doing OK now. I'm also 33.

Admittedly, it was a Skoda vRS I had to station for a few months instead of something as nice as a Cayman. Nevertheless, I can promise that stepping behind the wheel after an enforced break away is something to savour when you can. Chin up; we're rooting for you and I look forward to you being back behind one of Stuttgart's cars soon. smile

Just an update to all the kind messages of support.

I had a partial lobectomy yesterday but the biopesy was negative for cancer which of course was the main concern.

It's been a traumatic few months but i feel ive stared death in the eye an he blinked first - im elated as you may imagine. The hospital staff have been amazing and i have my own morphine pump!

Only bummer being that the Porsche did go but the clutch and fly wheel went the next day which wiped out most of the equity. Hey ho, nothing could bring me down right now.

I completed on a house Monday and was told i'd be a father two days before that! Just thought i'd see how many major life events i could juggle at one time!!

Thanks again everyone.
