I'm very excited about our three week summer euro tour which kicks off in July. Going with my best mate in his new 7.2 RS and me in my 6.1... going to some corners of Europe we've not yet ventured too!

So i started to check my car over on the ramp a few days ago after a new set of tyres & brake pads, oil & filter etc had arrived.. working on the car i noticed a strand of throttle cable out of place on top where it meets the throttle body. its very difficult to get in that area without dropping the engine down a bit. ended up having to remove the center rear subframe section to drop the engine six inches or so to have a proper inspection of the cable...

Good job i did.. any bets how far or not i may have got!!??..

What is that bike brake cable doing on a car... they have not used them for years! Don't have that problem with MKII smile

Very lucky find as it would of sure let you down in Europe as I know how hard you press the pedal..... only person I know to wear out a throttle cable!

That was well spotted. As Mike said, no doubt it would have let you down.

Ade/Mike, worth checking to see if it is/was routed correctly AND that the throttle stop is doing it's job as it shouldn't have frayed in that manner.

Henry, the inner cable was rubbing within the outer length.. only when we disconnected the two halves of the cable did we discover the worn section.. this wasn't visable when the cables were connected as it was hidden within the outer cable.
