Just had my 997TT daily driver serviced - 20k miles since last one six months ago and service came to a very reasonable £425. Only other expense has been fuel at 27 mpg and insurance at £500 for the half year. No faults, no problems and no worries (may need to do the tyres soon...) - now at 68k miles and still feels tight and reliable.

Big thanks to Tech9 for their continued great service

A very happy chap!

This is why a Porsche is (in my eyes) the ultimate performance car...

What other car with F40 rivalling performance can deliver that level of build quality, refinement, looks, and speed?!

Hi there

You average 27mpg in a 911 Turbo, damn you must really not be driving that car how Porsche intended. frown

Factor in depreciation and you may not feel so smug.

What age / year is your Turbo?
How is it to live with day to day?
Manual or Tip or PDK?

Biggest cost is always tyres and brakes, based on 27mpg and 20k miles in 6 must be a motorway cruiser. Glad it's been reliable

Sorry, agtlaw - didn't mean to appear smug; I am aware it's depreciating rather rapidly, just posting to say I'm rather chuffed with the car.

I have a 100 mile daily commute and regular longer runs - hence the reasonable mpg. At weekends it drops to a more pistonhead appropriate level. As an everyday car these things are unbeatable.

They seem to soak up abuse:

Incredibly easy to live with - comfy and relatively quiet and not a single failure to start or breakdown. It's no GT3 by any means but on a day to day basis over big miles it represents a far more practical proposition. I can even fit my teenage kids in the back with a bit of whinging.

Thanks!
Great to know it's a decent daily proposition.
I'm seriously considering dropping my daily 7 series hack for one, so I would use daily for a commute, and press it into service as weekend fun transport for the family (me, mrs t and a 6 month old) when it's not really necessary to take the truck.

Yep. Got a 997.2 turbo. Mind blowly brilliant, takes four at push, eats up miles at 27ish mpg and enters warp speed on a twisty damp A road with little push of the sports plus. Heaven! But really need a europipe exhaust to remove those hairdryer sounding moments wink

550 Maranello - former daily driver for five years when I did lower miles. A very different proposition on useabilty and costs to say the very least!! Towarrds the end it consumed cash like a Berlusconi hooker (but attracted same level of attention). Now sold after I stopped getting a thrill from it.

How to does it compare from purely driving experience to the 997 tt

Chalk and cheese - matches every German v Italian cliche you can think of and then some more

550 very loud and very, very tail happy, span rear wheels in third gear in dry and fourth in wet.

997 very quiet and very planted and doesn't require the driver to have gladiator balls when pushing on.

Always nice to see such a nice car used.

But please clean the reg plate, don't want a Traffic Cop with time on his hands to pull you for it.

gladiator balls haha. I think one would need them for the Ferrari running costs too from all that I've been reading about them.
Enjoy the turbo in good health smile
