My first dealings with OPC tomorrow when car goes in for 2 year service

What can I expect (apart from a big bill)?

Porsche like almost all other car makers has a pretty extensive list of things it expects its dealers to have, do and how it expects them to behave before, during and after a service.

I can't put my hands on the list but off the top of my head: An estimate of the cost of the service. Some details a list anyhow of what will be done during the service. Should you have any questions about the service these should be answered. If you have any other issues these should be listed/noted on the service paperwork. When you can expect the service to be completed. A comfortable waiting area with refreshments and WIFI. A sales pitch for a new Porsche. If you do not prefer to wait then an offer of alternate transportation in the form of at least a shuttle.

After the service someone should go over the service and cover anything out of the ordinary that was found, like uneven tire wear, the extent of brake wear, fluid leak sign, etc. The car should be clean and ready to pick up.

Sincerely,

Rockster.

Tyres will need changing soon Sir.

Brake pads are getting a bit low, could do with changing Sir.

We topped up your washer fluid with tap water as it was a bit low Sir, that is the £15 sundry item.

Expect huge bills for a 986 at an OPC. I went for two services in mine, each one was at least 1500 quid. Really wish I'd gone indie.

...but I did get a brand new 911 to drive around in.

But they have this low cost servicing for 9x6 models now don't they?
And the supplementary work that they advise, you don't have to get it done from them...just take note of it and get it done at an indi if you feel it is necessary.

Hi Taylorsmade, took my 986 in March for major service, Porsche have recently lowered their pricing for older models to try and encourage genuine OPC servicing rather than specialists or independents, worth asking before tomorrow so not to get stung!!

I'm having a major service and spark plug change for £645. I'm told that it's a saving of about £70 from normal price.

The courtesy car is superb. Brand new out of the box Cayman.
