Free OPC health check 16th June
Discussion
Just wondered if anyone else has had an email inviting them to a free health check? Am considering adding a 2 year warranty to mine so thought it might be worthwhile to give me a clue of any issues the 111 point check would reveal which would need sorting in order to add a warranty. Anyone attend last year and like to comment whether it was worthwhile please?

I would imagine teh free health check would be tyres, levels and brakes, which you probably check yourself anyway
Our TIPEC Group went to Tonbridge a couple of months ago, all cars that were booked in got a free check. This was up on the ramp & 15-20 minute check over. It was a lot more than tyres, levels & brakes & a lot you couldn't or wouldnt be able to do on your drive. I'd expect this to be the same. The mix of cars was 944/964/996 etc.

Sounds worth while. Even if you just get a cuppa off them, it's worth the visit. This was up on the ramp & 15-20 minute check over. We do regular tours not only of OPC but Paragon as well.

My OPC has confirmed it is NOT the 111 point check they are doing on the 16 June, it is a free vehicle health check, it will take no more than 30 mins and you will be able to talk with your technician about your car. As of yesterday my OPC only had 2 spaces left!
Took my 997 for the health check to Leeds back in March. Passed with flying colours only things spotted was very slight scuff on one wheel rim, lacquer
lifting on centre caps & slight mark on front spoiler.
Had a good look round workshop & showroom & some new 991's free coffee etc.
A very friendly and nice going on......all free.
So why not?
If anything is noticed at least your aware of it and can plan repairs etc accordingly.

Newcastle OPC never replied to my email requesting a slot so I phoned to arrange one and was promptly cut off by them and they made no attempt to call me back. I decided to make a 3rd attempt and called them again and was offered a slot on the 9th June as the 16th was already fully booked. Will no doubt turn up tomorrow (a rare outing in the rain for my car) only to be told they have no record of my booking and no available slots! :-)

Yep, I have the offer too....................
Good idea. The time with the tech will be the best. Be able to show them how to do things properly!
But if you know how to do things properly, Why would you need to go? Good idea. The time with the tech will be the best. Be able to show them how to do things properly!
Personally I cannot believe that this may be the case?????? (Cant even get the damn thing in my garage!)
HTH?
ps - Was so tempted to do the usual PH answer but chose not to

was there for about an hour in total as they seemed to be running somewhat behind schedule, despite me going for an early 10 o'clock slot. Generally not too bad - needs new brakes front and rear (£1300) which was no great surprise as they are almost certainly the originals and are very corroded on the inside faces. Also new wipers (again no surprise) and suggested battery as car is a bit sluggish starting - I have noticed this but the battery voltage appears very healthy so have connected the CTEK up to it and will see if it makes any difference. Am inclined to get it serviced at OPC and add a 2 year warranty, question is do I get an indie to replace the brakes before hand or just 'bite the bullet' and get everything done at Porsche?
They didn't actually give me any paperwork as their computer system wasn't working but hopefully they will give me some more details early next week.
Incidentally does anyone know whether the Boxster wipers from Eurocarparts/ Carparts4less are a good fit - i.e. is one curved and one straight or do I need to buy from Porsche or PIAA for a correct fit?
Thanks.

Apparently there are people who simply don't choose to own a ramp in their garage or slide down under their car?

I was asking Maersk as his comment looks like he's having a dig at the technicians/mechanics at opc, which is a bit needless as they are there on their weekend looking over your car. Have to ask but what is HTH?Personally I cannot believe that this may be the case?????? (Cant even get the damn thing in my garage!)
