Any thoughts on which to get? 1y old tt same price as new 991. Have driven 991 and was close to ordering, but aggressive opc sales technique made me hold off. I do like the upgraded interior, but am worried a S is bit blend very soon. Think 997 might be one of the final true 911's, seem to me much better value for your money. Soon Porsche will be making 200k cars a year, not so special anymore.

Wheel arches do show that it could accept -20mm, but then you look at the side-skirts and front-splitter and i'm not sure?

991 all day long.

If you want a 997t you're better of with a gen 1 as it has a much much better engine. Theres a red one on opc website with only 5000 miles for £50k

I have driven 991. IMHO it's a game changer. The handling is sublime, the interior is markedly better and the ride on 20" wheels is like velvet. The one I tested had pse and Pdk but with no paddles just switches so it slightly ruined the experience but the sound made up for this.

Would I have this instead of the 997.2 turbo s? No. The 997 turbo is mind bendly quick, unbelievable handling in todays english sunshine (yes i bought one instead) even with traction control off! It feels smaller, more part of you and yes the handling/ride is not as good as a 991, but still in a different league when compared to other supercars that i have the privilege to drive including the haloed 458 italia. The 997.2 turbo is a definite daily driver, it will take four a push and bikes on the roof! Every time I drive this car I can't believe how accessible the power and performance is ... All that is missing is a europipe exhaust to release some noise and make it sound a little like a gt2!

You could wait for the 991 gt3, turbo or turbo s or have the drive of your life with the 997.2 turbo s now smile .... and then trade up at a later date. Go on you know you want to;)

Its just in a different league for performance, and it's top of the food chain

Fair comments. Ii do think tj is right, just like the experience of something really quick. More in supersport league than just sportscar. A turbo S can be found from 90k upwards, which is great value. Gen 1 is gettin on a bit now. Ii would struggle with the centre console appearance etc. See if local opc can book me a testdrive.

Turbo S... If only to smoke a MP4-12C smokin

disclaimer: ground was a tad moist, and the MP4 can be heard struggling with traction

997 Turbo 'S', without doubt.

I've driven both and, although the 991 has clearly improved on the 997, the Turbo 'S' is still epic and more of an event to drive, with very high levels of standard kit.

If you look at the pricing, the 991 is considered quite expensive, new, at £90-100k, where as the Turbo 'S' in that range is still a £125k+ machine that has already shed its initial depreciation.

Of course, both will continue to lose value, but 991s are going to become much more common, whereas Turbo 'S's will always be pretty rare. And, I gather, next year's 991 Turbo is going to be a sizeable price hike over the current Turbo.

Turbo S was a cab too.

He should have done it with the roof down and a cigar in the mouth, just to rub it in!

Again very different cars, 991 I imagine will be more fun with NA engine and can fit PSE, Turbo is top dog and speed is insane, depnends what you are looking for. Also gen 1 would be more of a true 911

I've bought a new 911 every three years since 1984.

Had a 991 on loan and quite liked it, but IMO the 997 Turbo, especially the 'S', is a much more formidable buy. Be interesting to see how forthcoming 991 derivitives stack up.

They are still building the Turbo S, alongside the 991. Says it all.

true 911, don't know. But 991 for me has gone more to GT than sportscar (smthg that has been discussed extensively on this forum). It is a great car, but a Turbo S is king of the hill. Judging by most responses 997tt is the one to try out next.
