I know it's probably been done to death already but I'm looking for owners experiences of both.
Who's owned both to be able to directly compare?
How about day to day practicality and reliability?
What about the wow factor?
What about driving? How do they compare, is the 7 really that much of a step forward? How about compared to a 6 on KWs?
I know, a million questions but any help and assisstance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys. Now let the bun fight commence tongue out

997 better looking, rides much better, better interior and more comfortable.

996.2 noisier and rawer and tiring as everyday drive. Mine was on KWv3s which improved track performance but made ride worse.

For road? 997 everytime. For track? 996.2 as more fun with no electronics and less understeer. Track and road? 997

You won't go wrong with either.

this is well priced and id investigate further if i wanted a 996.2 gt3

That said the seats look well worn for a car thats done 13k miles. May just be the picture.
I went thru the same thought process but bought a 997.1 gt3 and im glad i did. 996 are great value but the but the 997 IMO is better looking and can be more everyday. Also the noise is fantastic. Look up Fifth Gear with VBH testing the gen 1 at Oulton when it came out. Thats what made my mind up

It seems to me that the 996 gt2 will retain its value more than the 997 gt3

how can you tell it's well priced when it might need 8k spending on it ? it's a very vague advert.
it could be a bloody expensive car, and you would have to ask serious questions about those seats vs the miles it's done.
996 GT3 it a tricky market imo, you seem to get what you pay for.

+1

Could have had a very hard life despite the low miles.

I think you need to buy these on condition rather than miles.

Looks like retro fitted buckets from another car. Good price if it stacks up.

I have and they are top guys, Ive seen this car and it is nice. RPM are thourough guys and do not cut corners on prep.

The only thing that puts people off on this car is no AC.

Looks a nice car. One more thing to add is that the 997 gt3.1 does suffer from a bit of understeer but I'm sure that can be dialed out by some Geo guru

997.1 GT3 would seem the logical option based sound and looks - what i don't quite get is that there's such a wide range in price, as low as £50k to as much as £65k. Qtn is whether the latter is worth 30% more or visa versa... This is about the same gap to a 996..

50k is high miles, not good spec and no warranty i think.
You get what u pay for is the moral of the story

Unfortunately not. Has been discussed many times before on this forum, but the only way to get the car to turn in under braking is to replace the standard active dampers with passive aftermarket.

I recently bought a 996.2 GT3 and considered similar options. For me it really boiled down to what use I would get out of the car. I wanted a something for Sunday morning blasts and the odd track day and felt they were both very good cars. I went for the 996.2 as generally they are about £15k cheaper and a good example came up for sale which ticked all the boxes for me (spec, colour, OPC warranty etc).

I know some people have a GT3 as their daily driver in which case I would have gone for the 997 as it is a little better everywhere - quicker, more comfortable, easier to drive and easier to find a good one.

A good friend has a 997 GT3 and we often go for a drive together and swap cars half way around our route. We both enjoy the change and its interesting to note the differences on the road. The 997 is much easier to drive and quicker. The 996 feels a little more engaging when you are on it. On track, the 997 is faster, the 996 a little more fun. Both are great and I would be happy with a good example of either.

Hope that helps.

I came from a 996.2 GT3 to a 997.1 GT3RS

The 996 was more useable IMO as a road car as the RS is very hardcore for the road IMO. 997 looks better, nicer dash, obviously faster and more of an "event" to drive than the 996.2 GT3. That said, there's a £35k - £40k price differential between these two cars.

996.2 GT3 is great value IMO and a fantastic drivers car.

This has been said before....

996 = analogue

997 = digital

996 definitely more a engaging, and don't rule out a 996.1 (if you can find a good one)
