After recently selling my stunning 996 c4s im now looking for my next car. As per title thinking of looking at a few see if they will suit me. Owned boxsters before the 911 but never something as old as a 993. Anything other than the usual serviceable items i should look out for and anyone owned one before any good bad experiences?

993 taigas are hard to come by as there are not many of them. You have to check the roof fittings as they are prone to leak. Otherwise the 993 is very solidly build but it is a much smaller car and a bit more agricultural. Great drive however.

They are great, had mine five years, check the roof mechanism and the blind, had to have my sun blind fixed every year as it keeps popping off retaining springs. Dont use it anymore just had the glass roof tinted. Creaks a bit but hey its 16 years old

Another thumbs up from me. Lovely looking car the targa as it has the smoothest profile of all 993s from side and rear.
I got the occasional squeak/creak but I found that using some dry marine lubricant dealt with 95% of them (useful full stop, not just on the roof)

The sunblind came off once when I had it but its very simple to put back on if you have a couple of screwdrivers and an allen key.

With the typical british summer we are currently experiencing I think a targa is the perfect option, even when its spotting with rain the glass roof creates a very light and airy cabin ambience and if you want the cocooning coupe effect, then simply close the blind.

Colour is important though as the tinted roof doesn't look so good against some body colours, IMHO silver doesn't work very well.

Nothing else to report, 993s are pretty sound. Due to age do the usual rust checks along windscreen/doors/sills. Otherwise buy on condition/history and you should be laughing.

Yep, I've got the same to report. Never had any trouble with my targa roof. Lovely car. Excellent in polar silver/blue leather.
