Hi all,

Im currently looking for a 997 Carrera S (Gen 2), probably around 2009 model. I have spotted a couple up for sale with one of them being a private sale. It has a Porsche warranty until next year.

I have not yet enquired about the car but was just wanting to know what peoples opinions would be about buying private and what sort of inspection they would get done ?

Would the 111 point check at a dealer be sufficient and request to speak to the tech that did it ?

Or should I really be looking at getting a inspection done by someone like Stuart Paterson (Scottish rep for Peter Morgan) ?

Thanks in advance for replies,

Kev

Hi,
One idea might be to ask the private seller to extend his Porsche Warranty by 1 or 2 years for you, at his expense ?? worth a try.

My understanding is that this would involve a 111 point check prior to them extending the warranty; if all good and you buy the car, the warranty can then be transferred to yourself immediately for a private sale.

Good Luck.
PS: If it's the white one at £44k, that looks excellent value to me, great cars, I love mine.

Do the basic checks first.

The amount of cars descirbed as having full service history which entails 5 year gaps between each service, or bob the uncle doing it (but I've got an old oil can as proof) is a joke.

I'm getting bitter following an unsuccessful car hunt !

We've all been there! 'I have spent F all on the car but fully expect top money for it.'
