987 Porsche Boxster S

Although new to Porsche ownership, I have been lurking posting on PH for a while...I previously had a 2008/08 Clio 197 alongside a 318d MSport company car and although the clio was fun, it wasnt what I really wanted... so it was sold a little over 2 months after buying it. I had wanted a Boxster for a little while, and decided now was the time to get one.

My must have specifications were;
- 987 (facelift)
- 19" Carrera S wheels
- Full sports leather
- PASM
- Sports Chrono Pack
- BOSE
- Navigation (PCM)

I was convinced that Basalt Black metallic was the best exterior colour to have but one came up in Seal Grey Metallic that fitted the bill perfectly.
A friend sent me an ebay link whilst I was travelling to London, downside was that the auction ended at midday on Friday and I wanted to view the car before making a bid on it. I asked my parents to view the ebay ad and let me know if there were any alternative ways to make contact with the seller.
As luck would have it, my parents knew the seller....so plans were made to view the car the following morning.

I bought it after a long drive and satisfied myself that the car and supporting history was solid etc.

The specification of my car is;
- 2005/05 'S'
- Full service history
- 3 previous owners
- nearly new tyres all round
- Seal Grey Metallic
- 19" Carrera S alloy wheels
- Black sports leather
- Sports Chrono Pack
- Bose
- PASM
- Porsche Navigation (PCM)
- Xenon headlamps
- Wind deflector
- Coloured wheel crests
- sports seats
- 3 spoke leather steering wheel
- Top tinted windscreen

I have already done a few things and planned for it;
- Deep clean. The supplying dealer/trader soaked the car in silcone to give the appearance of shine, but it was horrendous. Full de-tar, clay, polish, wax, leather clean etc happened the day after I bought it.
- Wheel refurbished. Booked into the wheel specialist for this friday.
- Some fresh paint in arches where stone chips have taken lacquer off. Booked in for 25/26th June.
- Major service. Booked into Porsche Bournemouth 1st July.
- New floor mats. Purchased, done.
- New number plates. Purchase, done.

nice job - black is a bh to keep clean and looking good!

Very nice - that's a 3.2 at that age I presume? Is it in or out of warranty? I'd certainly think about a warranty or, if not, use an Independent to service it rather than an OPC. If you are having one, think about it now as you can get sevice/warranty/111 point check done all at once and save a few quid.

Oh - and haggle with your OPC on service charges (and bring your own oil!).

It is a 3.2. I do not have a warranty on it either (yet)...
I have a working relationship with an OPC and they are servicing it for considerably less than even the independants.

welcome just a bit of helpful info. if not already aware,if your in with the opc and have no warranty get them to check if it has the upgraded ims (this was upgraded 2006 model year onwards and this is the only weak spot on the 987/3.2)if not get it upgraded when the clutch needs doing,plenty of info on here.

Good looking car and specification, no mention of mileage unless I missed it ?.

In time you will desire a SSK as second to third (and others) gear changes can be measured with a calender when pressing on.

Not true IMO. Short-shift kit makes the Boxster's sweet, if slightly long, throw heavy and at odds with the other nicely weighted controls.

Well I guess we all take different things from cars, and if you are happy with it that's all that really matters, however Porsche themselves see fit to offer an oem SSK.

Which was fitted from factory by the first owner of my 987 which I had removed...

Nice clean car. I'm a tech at Porsche Bournemouth and remember the car being in the workshop for the service. I didn't carry the work out, it was my colleague but remember it being a nice one!

Hi, lovely car. I would say that as I have the exact same wheels and colour.
Done a few jobs on car in my short time of ownership, upgraded the throttle body and plenum, air-box and looking to get the exhaust upgraded to a 'Valvetronic' system.
Inside the car previously had the basic radio/CD, so have upgraded to a new pioneer CD/DVD, Sat nav system that was recommended via forums. The steering wheel, gear shifter and handbrake have all been upgraded to alcantara which looks and feels excellent. Also fitted a short shift gear lever that I can thoroughly recommend.
