From which we draw what conclusion...?
(Apart from 'people can't get rid of 991s fast enough')
Since over a third are officially listed as demonstrators, and another third who, by the mileage quoted, look like demonstrators that have been just been de-designated, and the final third look like the tranche of cars dealers were forced by Porsche to register in December 2011, I would suggest it's mostly the dealers who can't get rid of 'em.

That car listed at £84950 at Leeds OPC is an absolute belter. I've driven it. And if I weren't planning something different I'd have their hand off. Some good deals for someone methinks. As long as you don't mind having a 2011 launch car.

I looked at that one too BnB, but it was up at £89500 only a few weeks ago. I got a brand new car with a very similar spec (not quite as laden) for the same money, but there are some cracking deals for what I consider to be a cracking car. That car listed at £84950 at Leeds OPC is an absolute belter. Yeah. I wanted a brand new one too. And to my own peculiar taste, having taken a dealer (poverty-) speced car the previous purchase. And yes, I got a satisfactory deal by way of good trade in.I liked the combination of PDCC and SPASM on the Leeds car. I've driven four 991s and this was the best by some margin.

I think everyone is short of good stock at the moment

It certainly seems that way - especially with regards to the 997. To further refine the above, there are only *34* 997 C2S coupes in the approved Porsche stock. Only 18 of those are manual. Only 4 have Sports exhaust. Are people holding onto their cars for longer, or is good stock selling before it's advertised?Henry

The number of available used 997s has a clear (and, if I remember my GCSE Maths correctly, inversely proportional) relationship to the number of unsold 991s. Dealers were fighting like crazy for my GTS as long as they could offload a 991, even if not a stock car.BnB said:

I'd have to agree with that, maybe there are some big incentives and I'm sure Porsche want to see more 991's on the road, in my neck of the woods I have only seen a handful since launch!Phooey said:

Do you know how many are Gen-2s? My local OPC recently told me they had no Gen-2s whatsoever and were very keen to get their hands on my car. Their tune changed a bit when it came to cutting me a good deal on a 997 GT3.2 they had in stock though. Needless to say I didn't do a deal with them.I'm wondering if the prices of the Gen-2 might harden quite a lot in the near future. Inexpensive relative to the 991, relatively rare (compared to the 997 Gen-1) and most of the Gen-1's potential faults engineered-out.

Try living in Suffolk.. I've yet to see a single 991 in real life. Mind you, I'm off to Zurich in a couple of weeks, which is normally swarming with Porsches.Ian_UK1 said:

Of the 34 - it looks like 22 are gen2's - and 12 of them are PDK. That's less than 1 gen2 car per OPC. Anyone after a specific car ie C2S coupe/black/black/PDK/SC/PSE with 2 years warranty etc is going to find it tough. And as a result, I would imagine prices are quite solid on the gen2, and should remain so for another year at least imo.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
