Cayman S - Front Radiator Fan Running
Discussion
Just checked, the vents are clear and the fan stops and starts with the air con off, so I'm assuming its not air con related. That works a treat.
Its the fan on the drivers side front. You can really feel the air blowing out the wheel arch.
Also the engine temperature looks fine. Just done a 400 mile trip this weekend, and no issues what so ever, purely the radiator fan cutting in and out.

I have exactly this, only on the nearside (albeit with 997). Seemingly excessive fan activity but everything else seems to be OK.
I virtually never switch off the air-con, but just adjust the temperature to suit. In case it affects anyone else, for a while I've noticed I need to turn up the temperature a bit higher to find a comfortable termperature. Probably just me getting old.

There are 2 fans on the front (as there are 2 coolant rads), one on each side and if one of them has packed up, the other one will work overtime (and eventually fail).
To make matters more complicated there are 2 speeds and the AC should only trigger low speed.
I would check that both side work first as it's a common fault and not particularly cheap to change (£250 to £300 per fan inc labour).

Cayman 08 987 - Experienced this problem today. Right fan only running full speed during motorway driving on mild day.
To tell if both fans are working when car is stopped - put the air con on max then hold your hand at a safe distance away from the fans on either side under the front bumper. You can feel the air being pushed out even on low speed.
On my car the LHS fan had stopped working, which seems to make to RHS run faster to compensate.
I cleared all the winter detritus out from in front of the radiator (stones, leaves, small twigs) by using an old (clean) paint brush and then hoovered out for good measure.
After a thorough clean around the rads both fans working again. Hopefully no need to replace either fan.
