Just as the title says - anybody here decorated a Porsche for a wedding? My big day is July 7th and I'm driving the lucky lady from the Church to the reception in the Cayman. Thing is, I haven't a clue how to decorate it and I'm seriously running out of time to plan this so thought I'd turn to PH... I know you lot know how to torque a centre lock wheel nut, but can you tie ribbon to a mid engined Porsche without a front grille?!

(thanks in advance - I appreciate this is pretty niche as PH queries go!)

to start with you will require a gaggle of used IMS bearings, failed carbon disks and worn out (we all know that they shouldnt) brake pads on pieces of string dangling behind the car!

Run now while you still can ....

She will probably want you to decorate the Cayman with a For Sale sign and get a people carrier for the huge brood she is planning

Of course you can do it - run the ribbon through the centre of the bonnet pin (whilst it's up), then put down and tie the ends of the ribbon round the rear view mirrors! Simples .... smile

For commedy effect - you could always get a windscreen sun visor with something witty .... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=https://www....

First of all make sure the dress isn't too big to get her in the Cayman. Underskirts, big dresses and Caymans don't mix. The last wedding I did was a couple of weeks ago and the back of a Bentley Flying Spur was only just big enough !

Keep it simple. Pass a ribbon through the front bonet catch hoop (on the bonnet), close the bonnet then tie off each end to the sun visor arm by the door. Depending on the colour of the car cream ribbon is quite nice rather than white and make sure it isn't too skinny. Any dress making supplies shop will have it in stock. 50p - £1 per metre.

I was checking a Cayman as Mark was typing!

Interesting topic as I am considering using my 997 for the same purpose.

We (she) has bought a 'Just married' sticker for the rear and would also like to have it filled with white ballons and some cans on a string off the back (where tos ecure these??)!

In terms of the ribbon at the front, doesn't it risk getting torn or something when opening the doors if its secured on the mirrors?

Acted- is your Cayman grey per chance? And does the word Argus mean anything to you?

But yes my friend used my 987 a few years back. We ran pink and White ribbons from the sun visors to the bonnet catch.

No Disrespect here but crikey if you need advice such as this about how to deck out your car when it's ruddy obvious how to do it then you're gonna be told how things are once the old band is on the finger!

God bless and all the best :-)

Im sure you'll figure the ribbon out - plenty on ebay, but dont forget the champers and glasses to stick in the back...works well for the photos even if you don't get a chance to imbibe in your moment of calm...

If there are any areas where the ribbon will rub on the paintwork (and especially when it flaps in the wind) then put some clear sticky backed plastic over the paintwork. It wasn't on a Porsche but I put a lot of micro scratches on the front part of the bonnet and the A pillars on a dark coloured BMW a few years ago doing just this. Maybe I used the wrong type of ribbon.

I've only ever done one wedding, borrowed a Bentley Turbo R and just popped into a flower shop to ask for some ribbon, on the basis that flower shops are everywhere and always have ribbon - didn't even get charged for it, I offered to pay but as it's not something they sell they just gave it to me. smile
