Hi All,

I probably will not get the green light from Mrs. Ice until next year but I am starting my research early!

So what can be done to the 996 interior to freshen it up??

I will probably be getting a 6T of 2003 vintage but would be interested in general mods, to make any 996 look more refreshed, NOT bling.

So far I can only think of stereo (double din) but I understand that can be tough if it is BOSE or fibre optics??

Please post pics if u can!!????

Thanks
IceBoy

I'm not sure what you mean by 'freshen up' or 'refreshed'?

Maybe you want a 997?

Are there bits that make the interior feel a little more modern?

Aluminium bits on dash?
Stereo?

I quite liked the interior of my 996, understated but functional, leave the bells and whistles for cars that need them.

Body coloured centre console.

Makes a massive difference to the ambience (unless black -may as well leave it standard)

Also, try and find one with alu dials.

My turbo came with a carbon pack interior from factory which makes it a nice place to be. I bought new mats for mine and gave the interior some serious elbow grease with a bunch of detailing products. Also have to get round to installing the double din head unit to replace the tape player haha

If it has the Gordon Gecko stylee phone handset, whip it out.

Instant modernisation.

Delete the forward centre console, paint the rear (transmission tunnel) console the body colour, GT3 bucket seats (leather), Alcantara steering wheel, 997 alcantara (GT3) gear knob, carbon kick plates and dashboard trim strips... There are plenty of options.

My problem with this sort of spend is that its better to buy a better car in the first place.

Its dead money and pointless. Buy the right car!

As has been said, there are lots of options.

Personally I like the carbon pack and also the aluminium pack that mine has.
Have a look here, pages 36 - 38

The forward centre console delete just looks daft IMHO, (Unless it's on a CS GT3RS)

I think it looks really odd too. Cheap and unfinished.

Get the steering wheel recovered to your taste. Shiny steering wheel are mini-cabtastic.

Only thing I'd suggest, which I had on mine, is a colour coded transmission tunnel. Oh and get the short shift gear shift and alloy handbrake. I loved those bits. cloud9

If you read my post more carefully, you'll note the use of the letters 'CS' designating 'Clubsport'.
A GT3RS Clubsport interior is very different to a std turbo/Carrera (you shoud know this).
