I'm hearing VW have taken complete ownership of Porsche.
Get ready to replace those badges :-)

Buy that 991 while you can...992 might be a re-badged Phaeton cry

I expected this. It doesn't look good for future models, I have to say.

What a turnabout, from owning a large shareholding in VW, to having your family company bought from under you by the company that you thought you had bought...

+1. I don't see anything changing to be honest.

Why?

Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti, Skoda and Seat have all prospered under VW.

+1. VW seem to be quite good at buying and not screwing things up thank heavens. They've done a world of good at Lamborghini without destroying their character.

Good news. Switch quality and tactile feel can only improve. They might do something avout NVH as well, two real Achille's heel areas for Porsche in my opinion.

Added to which, the two companies have an extremely close and long-standing relationship. Something that Bentley and such didnth have, so I wouldnt be particularly concerned.

All depends on their general direction: Will Porsche be treated like Lamborghini or Bentley or rather like Seat?

Likewise. Didn't VW start moving people about within Porsche a while back? And I seem to remember reading that they have already decided that Porsche will be the arm of the VW empire that will develop a platform for a whole range of sports cars across the VW brands to be based upon. They beat Bentley, and I think Lamborghini also, to the bid IIRC.

Let's hope they don't "Do an X-Type" to Porsche. Should they feel the need to, build your own press release or new car announcement out of the following nouns:

Synergy, heritage, blood line, sinues, prestige, dynamics, DNA, fusion,

Go lightly on the verbs though.

It all sounds rather speculative now. We may have to go through all of this again in 2014.

Will this affect values of models pre VW as they will be seen as the last of the 'genuine' Porsche - I wonder??

Porsche already decided to do this themselves 10 years ago when teaming up with VW for the Cayenne / Touareg.

That wasn't the first and certainly won't be the last.
