Risky Business 928
Discussion
One of three Porsche 928 sports cars Tom Cruise drove in the 1983 film ‘Risky Business’ is headed to auction on July 28, at the Profiles in History’s Hollywood Treasures from the Vaults sale. The car is reportedly expected to command a price of $60,000, said the auction house’s boss, Joe Maddalena, while speaking with “Access Hollywood Live.” That’s tens of thousands more than what you’d pay for even the most mint condition 928, whose production run stretched from 1978 to 1995.

I guess to men of a certain age it may have sparked their interest in Porsche?
I hunted the film out again only a month or two ago to watch some vintage Porsche. The film was rubbish but the cars were nice - no way I would pay a premium though. The actual film which needs to take responsibility for my love of Porsches is Condor Man. My nephews now have a copy too but I'm not sure they have fallen for them in the same way!

Condor Man doesnt bear watching again, does it? Even as a little boy in the Ritz in Matlock, I could see that theyd tarted up tatty pre-impact bumber cars and only had one actual Turbo. The actual film which needs to take responsibility for my love of Porsches is Condor Man. The baddies were in black flat nosed Turbo's weren't they.Saw the film and even as a very young child thought it was rubbish (can't remember the plot though).
Got taken to see the film following a trip to the garage in Wakefield (?) to see CM's car in the metal - yellow kit car that I think had been built by this garage.
GC8 - you still local to Matlock? Ritz cinema now a NHS drop in centre/Indian restaurant.

I can't see the appeal of a car that Tom Cruise drove in a film. He is not really one of the "Women want to be with him, Men want to be him" Hollywood superstars is he? Perhaps men of a certain persuasion might find it appealing, I don't know...Stitch said:

I wasnt aware that there was a surgery there, but the Tuk-tuk over the door was hard to miss!

Id be curious to see how it was laid out inside, as the old Major and Minor screens were actually divisions of one of the original screens, with the second screen having been converted into a bingo hall.
Surely a sleepy town like Matlock cant support such a large Indian restaurant? There used to be a small Chinese upstairs too, IIRC?
I've loved 911s from as far back as I can remember. The Glenvargill Porsche franchise was across from where I used to live and I spent untold hours pressing my face against the glass as a kid. They got to know me and let me in to sit in the then new 959 which was sat next to an F40 at the time. Ah memories..
However as above one of the films that got me even more hooked was No Mans Land. Some nice 911 action.

There is an artical some where showing a few car getaways, the one in weird science is one, along with the likes of Total recall and they all have the same soundtrack? Different films with the 928 manual sound. Actually I am pretty sure it was a 928 perhaps s2 manual
