I am looking at upgrading my current head unit to something newer and would like bluetooth & sat nav built in. My problem is all units seem to be double din which would mean either fitting the unit directly in front of the gear shifter (manual car) or relocating the heater controls to below and fitting the head unit on top.
The question is just how easy is it to relocate the heater controls below, can these be simply unplugged and placed there or is extra wiring required?
As an afterthought any recommendations on a good head unit with the required features especially one that is guaranteed to work with my Iphone4 as my current unit has to be paired up every time I enter the car!!!!

Should be simple-standard fit PCM hasthe double dinunit at the top, with the aircon controls beneath. IIRC, there are a number of decent double DIN units that fit your criteria. Ther have been a couple of threads on here (admittedly, a few years ago now) detailing the install; i believe you can also get specific surrounds to give a perfect fit/appearance.

Sorry to bump an old thread but catching up on reading.
yes all the wiring reaches to put the climate controls in the bottom din hole. Then Cd holder above where the cubby hole used to be and space at the top for the double din unit
You need to ground the wire from the wiring loom Which sets the alarm off when you remove the Becker unit and cut away some of the Porsche cradle to get your double unit in.
It's easily a DIY job and you will get a far higher quality audio experience by buying a good aftermarket unit that replacing the Becker one which will break every year without fail for another dodgy Becker
Mine has DVD, nav and full iPod control and transForms the incar entertainment experience.
