Quick question, any idea what the original thickness when new Porsche front Disks are for a 997 turbo 2006 model (if that bit makes a difference). A friend bought some off ebay that say they had been used for 200 miles but we wonder how true this is as they do look a tad more worn...cheers

You own a 997 Turbo and you're buying secondhand brakes?!?

32mm from memory and replacing when 2mm worn.

Not sure about buying secondhand discs though for a performance car.

Fixed that for you. Discs and pads wear into each other in a specific way on every car. I would never use secondhand discs and/or pads on anything, let alone a 911 Turbo.

Does your mate use remoulds too?

So would you change the discs every time you change pads?

Not necessarily but you'd normally change the pads when you changed the discs. There's simply not point in keeping the old pads with new discs. Apart from anything else, their performance would be poor at best.

Shouldn't that be "no point"? - irritating isn't it?

Valuable input!

If anyone actually cares, the discs are 34mm out of the factory with the minimum thickness marked on the disc as 32mm.

He knows what I'm getting at but you're right, it's not on topic.

I cannot believe that anyone would buy a second hand set of brake discs. Let alone used brake discs for a 997 turbo. One of the best lines from the blues brothers. One prophylactic used.
