Purchasing advice on Boxster S
Discussion
After 4 years of ownership just sold my Aston Martin V8 Vantage.
Was going to purchase a Nissan GTR however due to other financial commitments am now looking at purchasing a Boxster S.
Been looking at 2005 3.2litre cars along with a 2007 3.4litre car.
Haven't driven yet, however was looking for buying advice, what to look out for etc.
2005 cars around £14000 ish whilst 2007 car is £17500.
Many thanks
Rich

I had a 2008 Boxster RS60 Spyder. 40,000 miles on by the time I sold it. In my experience, if I were to buy another of similar vintage I would check that the brakes (discs and pads) had been done and also the tyres were fresh. Easily £2k if both need doing. Also check the radiators at the front of the car are in good condition, they are prone to stone chip damage.
Finally, check the suspension for dull rattles over bumps and minor imperfections. I think it's the suspension control arms. An easy but not cheap fix.
Great cars. Keep an eye out for a 3.4 with Sports Exhaust!

Go on a Boxster forum like BoxA.net and look at the buyers guide.
Most Bosxters when ordered from new were second cars so even 2005 will be low mileage, tyres can start to perish where the wall meets the tread and even if the tread is good they will need replacing.
A/C condensers are about the most common fault, you want to see service history again important because they tend to need a service because of age rather than mileage.
It's b
h going from a Vantage to a Boxster, but they are very driver focussed cars, huge fun with handing that punches way above their weight.
A short shift kit will really improve the driving pleasure and at £ 250.00 fitted worth every penny, or you can go tiptronic if that's your choice.
Options are a personal thing so check out the buyers guides and there is a good book by Peter Morgan about Boxster & Cayman you can get one on the net.
