Wondering if I should let the OPC have a look at the following or if I am being a little anally retentive?

Right hand side, looks like it was at some point a little oily (nothing fresh).

Left hand side, more a bit 'dirty' than oily.

What's the concensus? Is it perfectly normal for it to be a little dirty in the engine, or is this a sign of a weak seal / something else that needs sorting?

Lol i think they will wipe with a rag and send you on your way. you might want to get them to

I would wipe clean and do another comparison a week later. Of course in a 991 you can't even see the engine. Be glad you've still got the opportunity to spot potential trouble.

HI there

That is just misting and looks like its cured itself now.

OPC will only carry out warranty work if its actually dripping or effecting the way the car drives, nothing to worry about. smile

Thanks, will clean it off and see what happens.

Just seemed a strange place for oil to me hence the question.

ETA: I'll straighten up the filler cap too at the same time wink

Isn't this known as misting?
i've often read a mechanics report when they claim a "misting" here and there.
An old school Porsche mechanic once told me, if it ain't dripping all over the deck feckin leave it alone.
