Just curious on how much warranty I actually have?

I recently purchased a 9 month old Porsche from an OPC last month.

I have just read this from an OPC dealer website

PorscheUK said:
All new Porsche cars are now covered by a three year manufacturer's warranty and all Porsche Approved used cars over 12 months benefit from a comprehensive 24 month parts and labour warranty. Any Porsche Approved cars between 13 and 24 months old also include the balance of manufacturer’s warranty in addition to the 24 month Porsche Approved warranty.
There is no mention if used car less than 12 months old but is it correct that if anyone buys an approved used car that is for example 13 months old, you would get the remaining of the 3 years warranty (23 months) and on top of that you would get an additional 24 months approved used car warranty (total 47 months in example above)?

Would that also mean that I have (on my 9 month old approved Used Porsche) 27 months manufacturers warranty only or do I also get an additional 24 month approved used warranty?

I find the Porsche warranty area very hazy, they seem to keep changing the rules.

If I was you, I'd ring your salesman at the OPC you bought the car from and ask him; also, get his reply in writing or on an email.

Good Luck.

I thought they came with 3 years, but could actually be ordered with 2 years as an "option" that reduced the price of the new car?

You should have been given the official Porsche warranty paperwork with your purchase and this will show the "from" and "to" dates of the time period the warranty covers.

When I bought my Porsche it had 14 months manufacturers warranty remaining, it also had a 2 year extended warranty which begun after the manufacturers warranty expired, both the extended warranty and roadside assistance were itemised on my invoice as FOC items, so I would guess if its not mentioned on yours then you don't have it.

My paperwork does say "to" 10/09/2014 which is the 3 years from new. That was what I expected so dont have a problem with that.

More curiosity really as it seems as if you get a better deal (re. warranty) if you buy a car that is 13-24 months old compared to one that is less than 12 months old where you can get up to 11 months additional warranty.

Food for thought for anyone looking at nearly new cars through OPC, especially if a car is nearly 13 months old to wait a few days/weeks to buy it and get 11 months free warranty smile

If you push (as maybe 993AL did), I gather that you can have the two years "approved used" put on top of the existing / remaining manufacturers warranty, but I bet you get charged for it somewhere or that it's factored in! smile

It was actually advertised from day one as including a 2 year extended warranty. IIRC the salesman said that they can't sell a car with less than 2 years warranty so they had to include it in the deal...but you're correct, it certainly wouldn't be FOC.

I think you will find that its 27 months warranty, for cars less than a year old you the clock starts ticking from day one. Had exactly the same thing happen to me when i bought a 9 month old car.

Had a chat with my salesman today and he has confirmed that there is 2 yr Manufacturers warranty as normal and UK dealers then add cost for third year as standard on UK cars when purchased new.

When a car is 13 months old for example you would only get the balance of the 2 years manufacturers warranty (11 months in this case) and they will give you a minimum of an additional 2 years which I assume they add the cost of an additional year (as additional 1 year has already been included from new)

So the maximum warranty would be 11+24 months on an approved used porsche smile
