I have seen many various comments regarding OPCs and specialists in the South East (both good and bad), but I am trying to find any experience of specialists within range of Lincoln (eg Horncastle, Nottingham, Sheffield).

My initial preference would be away from OPCs because of the prices and their anal attitude towards their precious warranty.

In the north of the county near Shorpe there's PowerMarques. Nigel is incredibly knowlegable about all Porsche engineering and will quite happily talk to you for hours about it if you like. You'll also get a cup of tea out of an oily mug if you make it yourself. Don't go expecting marble floors, leather waiting areas and de rigeur espresso, but then the bill reflects this and I'd rather have someone who knows what they're doing than somewhere Bauhaus to sit while my bill is printed.

6 years ago he tried to sell me a car he didn't have the right to sell to me and I found him very difficult to deal with. Maybe I found him on an off day.

Hi Nigel,
My name is Sean and I hope you can help me. Following a minor accident the cabriolet roof on my Gen2. C4 996 needed a new cable drive to the hood mechanism. However the roof will now go fully up, but only half way down. Can you please advise a fix or quote me for a repair by yourself? Contact me on 01476 402181 please.

Hi Sean. I'm not Nigel, he's just a guy I have used for servicing and repairs on my Porsches. Last I heard he was winding down in preparedness for retirement, although still taking some work on. I have since started using Ben at Rennspeed in Gainsborough. He's a great guy, and a great mechanic. He's currently rebuilding my SC engine. His number is 07841 911911.

You might be better off with someone in the south of the county though. There's a specialist in Horncastle called 911 Sport if I recall correctly.
